Thanks man. Hope so. This'll be the first I've ever wheeled without KM1s.

Painting the wheel weights is definitely on the "to do" list.

It is looking a bit saggy isn't it. A lot of wheeling this summer with a lot a weight in back must be taking its toll. I am considering adding an extended shackle. Where can I find a 3/4" lift shackle that'll work with my poly bushings?

well..3/4'' lift from shackles is a 1.5'' extended shackle. So same size im running basically.

However, but increasing the length of the shackles you actually put more of a load on the leafs and wear them out faster..just fyi

but i don't see how a shackle will matter with the poly bushings. Should all be the same really.

I really question whether that is accurate. I think it is one of those TW urban legends. Something that gets repeated so many times, people come to believe it is fact. Extended shackles have long been an acceptable option for getting more flex and a little extra height.

What brand of shackle are you running? Would you do me a favor and measure the distance from bolt to bolt on yours?

The OD of some brands of bolts are smaller than the ID of some brands of bushings according to Dan at Wheelers.

If I were to guess, I'd say a sharp stick/tree branch caused that. Keep an eye on it, but I agree, its not hurting anything as it is now. These sidewalls will stand up an incredible amount of abuse. You saw mine from moab, never fased it, never missed a beat.

hell im all for shackles. I love the droop of just mine. Just saying tho, i mean it makes sense if you think about the geometry of it..

but yea i think mine where Toytech ones..but i don't seen any 1.5'' ones on there anymore unless mine are just the 1'' ones

ill go measure. i have my old stock ones still too. Ill maybe take a pic.

and yes that is true..my bushings in my Wheelers leafs have a bigger bushing in them then in the skyjacker leafs Tim sold me.

 

my next mod is going to be longer shackles like jace has. i want more flex

 

im sure its small..but i mean if you say got too long of one and the angle ended up being more flat..that would cause more stress..i think anything under 2'' will be fine or as long as you have a 45* angle or close


Okay mike, just when and meassured and have some pics..DAMN! i guess mine are 2'' bigger then my stock ones! but they look like the 1'' ones on toytech..i don't have a cross brace that connects them together..either that..or because im a 96 my stock shackles are shorter.

anyways. Stock ones were about 3.5'' center to center. My toytech ones were 5.5'' or so. Sorry for the bad pics..hard to hold that shit and and ipad at the same time






Oh and Mike..here is my spare carrier arms that have bolts in them..

 

i love the flex i have with mine. They help a lot.

Jaces are too long tho lol he is on stock leafs still so its okay for him..but damn..thats too long IMO..lol

You'll be at like 3-4'' of lift with the 6'' ones. You'll be added 1.5'' of lift at least with 3'' longer shackles then stock.

And you will HAVE to get new shocks..otherwise whats the point? You standard 5100s are not gonna droop that much at all. You'll max them out at that height.


honestly tho..you don't need that long, i doop just as low as Jaces rig does with only 2''ish longer shackles..

 

i want MAXIMUM DROOP!!! So i have to sell the 5100s, measure for longer ones, then get some bro plate spacers to even out the front

 

Or get some Eibachs

and again..i droop just as low if not lower then Jaces..in Jaces pics, he had a 265 going below the body..i can droop a 33 below the body and mine are only like 2'' more..just saying..

But yea, you'll need like 9 or 10'' shocks for sure.
