    Hell making a tub bumper would be easy easy. IF..you know how to bend good..i dont ha i don't have a bender..so i guess really it depends on how much you trust the guy..would hate to see you come away with something you don't like. Steel isn't super cheap..

    On the 1st gen the BB belly skid mounts to 3 places with 8 or 9 bolts. The belly skid is very long. It runs from the steering rack to well past the t-case. The front of it attaches to the rear of the IFS skid. The middle attaches to the transmission crossmember and rear end of the belly skid attaches to the crossmemeber Ben was asking about. As you guessed, that BB crossmember bolts to the frame and spans the frame rails.

    I think I paid $575 + shipping. I think the total came to ~$660.

    So I was looking up the chalk test and came across a lot of threads that said it didn't work and to use this formula. (I also came across vice versa, haha).

    ((vehicle weight)/(max tire load weight*4))*(max load psi)

    You find the specs of your tires for the max load and psi of that load. For my KM2's it is 3415lbs @ 80 psi. Take the weight of your vehicle, mine weighs around 5200lbs with me in it. You divide your weight by the max tire load*4 (since your weight is distributed among 4 tires) and multiply all of that by the max load psi.

    Mine is: (5200/(3415*4))*80 which comes to 30.4 psi in my tires. I did a little more math and found that my tires go up 1 psi for every 170.75 lbs the vehicle weighs.

    Any thoughts on that formula?

    Yea i like how the Skid rows are made better tho then the BB.

    instead of the one long ass belly skid, which is the weakest one and the one pron to bending. The Skidrows run up to the actually tranny cross member so you actually don't loose that much clearance and the T case skid looks like the way its built it'll hold up better..granted you have to drill the frame tho..

    interesting..wish i knew how much my truck weighted..id give it a go.

    only thing i feel like is left out is tire width and load types. I mean..my tries handle weight way different then your do due to the fact they are A) wider B) load range C instead of..E?

    the front ifs skid is a lot beefier then the bb skid imo and its easier to get it all up there in 3 pieces instead of that giant belly pan.

    I feel ya there. I miss my welder...but eh birfmas is tomorrow maybe ill get that instead of the new gun...hmmm decision decisions

    I want to build my own skids because the factory ones dont line up perfectly with my bumper (which I knew would happen to do my initial wreck and the custom stuff I had to do on my bumper to make it fit correct).

    Cant expect perfection tho. Obviously once that much metal is bent it will never be perfect again.

    More of an excuse to just go all out on it as a trail rig once I graduate and get some moniez.:cool:
