    I am hoping that some good turbo kits come out by the time I have the funds for boost:D

    That is a good way to go. Then add gears and a front locker after that:D Once you have that crawl box, traction will start to be an issue on the harder trails.

    On a side thought, I wonder how boost and a crawlbox get along. With my 4.88 gears and a 4.7 geared crawlbox I would be hitting almost 3K rpm at 1 mph in 1st gear. I don't know numbers but since S/C's are known for starting boost earlier than turbos I'll best you would have some boost going by 3K.
    I'd probably have 150+hp at the wheels at 1 mph instead of what, 50 hp or so. Not sure what the motor output is at 800ish rpm. haha

    I like the crawlers:D and I started with 3.73's... Unless the motor holds back really well it wouldn't take much to hit 1 mph which would put me in the ball park of 3K rpm.

    Also I wish I knew someone close with a crawlbox in an auto. I'm still curious how they will work with the torque converter. I'm thinking I will need throttle to keep it moving, unlike you guys who can just let the clutch out and go.

    mostly stock
    Front and rear lockers on a bone stock tacoma would get more places than a three wheel drive built crawl boxed taco. The single mod that gave me the most crawl capability is the front locker (already had a rear Elock). I don't even see the need for lower gearing than a stock T-case to be honest with you, but I'm not a rock jockey. I hit the crawling trails as a way to get somewhere, not intentionally dive into a boulder patch. I just think if I'm going slower than I can walk then I'll park the truck and get out and walk, lol.

    Same with me. Im hoping to score a 4:10 elocker for the rear. Wont be putting a front locker on it. No point. If i want to do trails that require a front locker, ill just buy a old toyota and sas and lock the fuck out of it.

    Fuck that. Just get the front locker for the love..then you can just take the Tacoma EVERYWHERE.

    what im gonna do. It'll be the best of both worlds. Ill have crawling and lockers and all expo stuff and LT..can't go wrong with that combo. Cause Yes, expeditions are VERY fun! BUT..so is doing the hardcore crawling trails so why not do both?

    Otherwise Ben..you might as well pass on the skids and rear bumper and just get the ARB and leave the truck as is and stick to roads like Lolo and such. That whole trip there was nothing a stock rig couldn't do..so..why not just get all the expo gear now and save money by passing on all the trail gear? :stirthepot:

    And the front locker is quite possible the best crawl rig mod for making your rig more capable next to the rear locker. I'm hoping to pick up some spare cvs before moab just in case but I'm not too worried about breaking one. Its all about wheeling smart and odds are against you breaking a cv.
