Yea..plus we can spread out more..not that that happens a lot..but the likelihood of loosing connection with each other is near impossible..

I really think I'm gonna get one in the next year or so..

i think for communication within the group for what we do might be excessive. i mean its a long range for use to lose each other from what this last trip showed. when i was tail gunning i was hanging WAY back. especially when we were on the way to silverton and i never felt i got out of range. i adjust my gain and squelch often so maybe my experience is unique.

you guys think the stock wiring for the parking light/ corner can power a 6w LED bar?

the 168 bulb pulls 5 watt IIRC...

    that would be good.

apparently this guy is stuck out there for the night. Wheeling alone. Gonna be a long night. really dumb mistake it looks like. tried to crawl over the edge instead of backing up and getting more room. a good reminder of why i want a low CG

lol you can read that both ways haha guy needs to call a 4x4 wrecker and not rely on TW. ive been there. you just swallow your pride and empty your wallet. if the truck wont start, and by the looks of it, an expert in vehicle recovery should be called, not super ambitious joe shmo who might not have the tools or experience to get him turned around and down the mountain if he doesnt have power.

thinking about simplifying things and just rerouting the blinker wires to the corner, getting an amber bulb for the corners, and running power to the bar from the corner wires........

at least until I get confidant enough to wire to a relay and switch

Can a ham radio talk with a cb radio? Also don't you have to take some test to be licensed to get a ham radio? I think Joe is working on that right now.

I have an ICOM V-8000. 75W, and you can mod them super easy to TX RX on race freq's. Just remove one diode. The biggest benefit over CB is audio clarity. Your voice comes across as clear as FM radio...the range is cool too though. In the desert on offroad runs, we get strung out over 20 miles (dust), and it's still crystal clear. 30 miles is no problem in most terrain. Another cool thing is that you can use it to listen to weather radio when you get up in the morning at camp...

No. Mine will tx/rx on 136-174Mhz (like FM radio, but a little higher in the spectrum).
