The diagram above includes the intended state of all the servos, not the actual airflow. You always have bottlenecks in the ducting and when the bottlenecks become too great (either of the two higher output settings) then they will overcome the flapper doors and push out through other vents. It's not a warranty issue until the servos/doors show signs of failure like face blasting you when you turn on defrost.

Also, make sure you're actually feeling air from the B vents and not the corner defrosters. There's two vents on the dash pointed rearward toward the side windows to keep the area around the mirrors clear.

This is fan on high defrost only. I would say this is face blasting although I suppose that remains subjective.

I mean a tissue doesn't take much and the defrost is going to have the worst instance of blowback - especially on high.

One way to know for sure is if someone else posted a picture of a tissue in front of that vent with fan on high on the defrost setting only to compare.

Throttle down chainsaw. If you read my first post, with the vent closed the air is still forceful enough to leak through pretty good which is why I originally asked for ways to seal up the vent fins.

I purchased a brand new truck, is it too much to ask for the ventilation system to operate properly?

Welcome to TW :) You will find here that many want to help. Others just hate the truck and complaint about everything. And the rest? They either don't read posts before responding or cant control themselves.

I'd visit the dealer as seems the truck is not operating as it should. I hate dealers too, but either that or wear some moon boots and mittens when you drive.

Well I'm not here to make a new buddy. I'm here to find solutions for my truck. It's too bad you can't look past your ego and see that this does not seem normal.

Thank you. I made an appointment this morning and the service tech over the phone said this does not sound like its working right.

I'll run out and see if my truck does this on my lunch break. I've never manually switched the vents.

Auto CC master race checking in

Ok I just tested my truck (auto CC, but manually adjusting).

Set it to defrost only (AC on and off didn’t effect the results)

Started at the coldest setting and it was blowing out of the side vent. As I turned the temp up it blew air less and less until it was in the “heat” range and it stopped. Once it was past 78*F and higher it was off completely.

    Something to think about OP.

Also I was not able to turn on the recirculate with the defroster.

Thank you for testing that. I just tried the same thing with similar but slight different results. On the cold setting air came out very strong from the side vent B. Turned all the way hot it decreased a bit but still a very noticeable amount of air blowing out. I could not get it to close off completely.

Sure if you look at it like that it would be considered first world problems. However I spent hard earned money on this truck and I like my equipment to work properly. Pretty simple.

Worst case scenario, you can pull that vent cover and then stuff a rag in the hole :notsure: that’ll stop any and all air flow
