@Key-Rei Driving away is the first and best option for self defense in a vehicle.

However, I can't see too many situations where you're entirely unable to drive away at all, being attacked, and pepper spray, or a key chain, or a care bear are the right options to defend yourself. If you cannot drive away to defend yourself chances are things are too late for less/non-lethal.

My point though was specifically about his reasons for using wasp spray. If you're utilizing a tool specifically as a non-lethal / less-lethal defensive tool and then calling out how it can put someone in the hospital or blind them you're certainly opening yourself to legal problems. If you don't feel your life was threatened is it justifiable to blind your attacker? Is it justifiable to use a "nerve agent" against them? Probably not.

Oh absolutely! I've never had occasion to need my weapon for self defense and I honestly pray to God every day that I don't have to. And I definitely agree leaving and street smarts (situational awareness) are always the best tactics and defense to a bad situation.

De-escalation of situation is by far better than proving you can beat a guy with a tool. Alway try to keep calm and give whoever whatever they want, short of your life or your loved ones mind you.

That said I have been cornered in a car before, some lady had road rage that I was going the speed limit and fallowed me off the highway, I kept driving and she kept along side me yelling and screeming I tried to find a good public place to stop but at the second intersection she cut infront of my car and stopped my forward escape route, backing up was blocked by the truck behind me so I simply sat in my car and let her yell and bang on the windows and rip off my door handles until the cops showed up and hauled her ass off.

Was ready to bring the hate if she broke a window though.

Bad idea, looks like a gun, cops will think it's a gun, can't carry it anywhere or maneuver it in a vehicle. Lastly if you use it it's going to be sonsidered a gun in court. Also notice the tag on it that says:

"LESS LEATHAL" dead is dead no matter how little the died by. Less than leathal weapons still kill and are still weapons. OP seems to be in search of a "non weapon" for dissuasion rather than stopping power.

You'd be more likely to have something like that taken and used on.

Pepper spray I guess would be your best bet. It's illegal here but then again it's also illegal to carry a gun. Fuck here you can't legally carry anything for self defence. As, as soon as you do it's viewed as a weapon. Kind of bullshit.

So me I carry a knife for opening things and in a crash to cut my seat belt should I need to. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Completely legal too.

Should I ever have to use it for defence well I'll be judged by 12 sooner than carried by six

Knowledge is your greatest weapon. Situational and Self awareness is always key. Understand your vehicle is one of your strongest weapons. Always have flashlights in your truck, tools be self sufficient for minor issues, ways to fix flats, some extra hidden money, maps (paper ones), a small EDC Go back with essential stuff. Pocket knives, small fixed blade knife, spray like others listed either pepper or similar (wasp spray was a good idea by someone else). still, nothing beats my Sig p238 in the holster. I love being a TCL holder and would encourage everyone to get one if your state allows it.

THANK-YOU. Finally someone not hating on the raid. Lol. Raid was actually originally recommended to me by an LEO. My Gpaw. I have lots of LEO/Military Family, would have done it myself if it wasn't for a drunk driver who hit me and slipped two discs in my back when I was 18 medical meps wouldn't clear me.:(

But yes, happy to have my CWP/CHL/TCL whatever your state calls it and training to use it. Again I thankfully never have had to.

More important than any tool is knowledge to use it, and when to not use it.

P.s. Big Sig fan myself what 938 you got?

Hand gun. Learn to use it, and it can be non leathal or lethal depending on what you are confronted with. Better to have too much and no use it, then not enough.

Apparently not too many frequent live leak users here. The thing about escaping in your car is that usually the guy you are trying to get away from has a car too.

You don't know what the other person is capable of or what they are carrying. If you get out of the truck with a bat or pepper spray or tazer, they may shoot you before you even get close enough to use it. If you can get out of the situation, get out. If you can't get out, I would rather be safe than dead, so I carry either a 1911 or a G42.

    Like, so many.
If you're legally allowed to carry a firearm, I think you should carry a firearm. That's not being a mall ninja. That's being prepared for an absolute worst case scenario. It's why I have a fire extinguisher and spare tire.

@Key-Rei - cheers! My sig is the p238 (.380). It has the warm wood grip (Its super comfy) and the standard Sig Tritium night sites. I've taken it into the desert in West Texas with zero lights and the sights are amazing. I will drop and get the p938 soon (9mm). I have a backup S&W self defense 9mm with fiber sights. We are lucky that Texas allows us quite a few freedoms so we have plenty fire sticks around the house.
