The classic rationale used by tackleberries across the country. Usually followed closely by, "Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it!"

I dig the sentiment. Unfortunately, it's usually used as justification for some of the most ridiculous, obnoxious, over the top ninja warrior bullshit. "I am going to take more ammunition in my truck than a seal team takes into to combat because...(see above)." Or the guy that carries two guns, a flashlight, two knifes plus one sewn into his pants in case he's kidnapped and hobbled by Al queada on his was to Sheetz.

I love guns. I have my CCL. I shoot competitively. But *that* culture, you all know the one I'm talking about, around guns, prepping, being tactical, etc is really irrational and retarded. It's like a 10 year olds wet dream except it's acted out by adult men with too much money and delusions of being Jason Bourne.

i carry knuckle dusters with me everywhere. one hit is all it will take to either stop or highy discourage an attacker. illegal, yes. just don't leave em in plain sight.
another good one to keep in the ol' truck is a thick tube sock that won't blow out with a 3 D batteries in the bottom...knot tied at the top. you can create distance with it, doubling your reach on an attacker. I don't care where you hit the attacker with it, if you make contact it will ruin their day. I've used it before and it's HIGHLY effective and noone will look at a tube sock laying on the floorboard of your truck and think anything of it. I had a tweaked out meth head come running at my truck in the town i used to live in. Swung at me while i was driving down main street...totally unprovoked. Guy was nuts. anyway, i wound up being pinned in, so i got out of my truck to protect my son inside, and got him with my tube sock....dropped him, even high it dropped him. problem solved. that was a scary incident, definitely got my blood pumping. You just never know when a threat will present itself.

I carry my fists, but they are considered lethal.

my father in law is right in the middle of *that* culture. i shoot, too, and i own several. but i don't scream along with alex jones and expect to be drafted for the coming civil war to march in DC with assault rifles.

i'm being serious. the man is almost 60 and thinks he's gonna be part of the takeover. right while Texas is seceding, that is. that's what he keeps saying. it's more or less where we change topic a bit.

    Too few to list.
I carry this. For non-lethal, aim lower.

    Just thinking . . . . Isn't "non-lethal self defense" an oxy-moron??

I always carry my Kershaw Blackout on me. But I keep a machete wedged between passenger seat and the center console.

Running away is a form of self defense, so is pepper spray, shotgun bean bags, tasers..... So, no, it isn't an oxy-moron.
