Identifying leaf packs

What you are looking at there is a FACTORY/OEM 4-leaf pack with a manufacturing date PRIOR to OCTOBER 2010.
In the US, some may regard this as a "TSB" leaf pack, which was often used as an UPGRADE for the 3-leaf pack that most there shipped with. In Canada, ALL 4x4/prerunner units shipped with those until October 2010.

THERE IS A RECALL FOR THAT LEAF PACK!

The way you can tell if your leaf pack is under recall:
Count the LEAF RETENTION CLIPS. That one has THREE. Two visible on the LEFT side (of the picture), and ONE visible on the right (mostly hidden by the exhaust pipe. The POST-RECALL 4-leaf packs have a total of SIX retention clips, three in front of the axle, and three behind.

The 3-leaf packs have three clips pre-OCT-2010 (recalled), and four clips POST.

Basically, what the clips do, is they keep the leaves from flipping out sideways when they break. Unfortunately, the post-recall leaf springs are no less prone to breaking.

I just had the suspension recall done to my Tacoma.
Will this have an effect on my searching for an add a leaf for the rear? Are the add a leaf kits that were made for the pre recall leaf springs compatible with post recall leaf springs?
