    sorry 100% wrong
    Claying will remove any wax/sealant that is on the surface of the paint. Also depending on how aggressive of a clay bar you use it will leave micromarring on the paint that would need to be polished out if it bothered you. Darker paint the more noticeable it will be.
    either way wax will be stripped anytime you clay your paint.

    I'd try to pressure wash it first before I went to scrubbing or using chemical removers.

    On the Tempo? Never had any issues with it that I can recall. Didn't drive it long.

    Thanks. I just clayed my truck too. I'll be sure to polish and wax today. Dont see any micro marring though. I washed before and after clay, so maybe that helped.

    This might sound ridiculous...but, it works for a lot of stuff on black plastic. Latex, old wax etc.
    1. pressure wash the heavy stuff off.
    2. let dry
    3. use a large pink eraser (the kind kids have in school) and rub hard.

    The friction and the rubber from eraser will pull the latex from the plastic.

    This may sound crazy, but I have used "Easy Off" oven cleaner for several cleaning jobs. Spray on, let sit for several minutes, use dish scrubbie and wipe off,(wear rubber gloves due to chemicals)

    30 years ago a weird guy at work had a Vega wagon. I don't know what he was painting at home but he had 6 rattle cans of yellow enamel paint from the hardware store on his front seat. We had one of those 105 degree days and those cans exploded in the hot car. You couldn't even see inside the window. Everything was yellow. Reminds me of Mr. Bean.

    Shit happens. If you're afraid to get your truck bed dirty, you should've bought a van.

    Quick update... I found some wd-40 on the shelf and decided to give it a shot. At that point I didn't care if it would eat the plastic. Some Wd-4o with microfiber cloth and elbow grease-done. So far so good, and I like my truck again. I pretty much soaked that plastic piece. I'll let you know tomorrow if plastic is melted.

    Thanks everyone again!!! :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
