I have done that and after replacing 10 sets of cheap door handle. I finally got the upgraded metals one.

I would recommend keeping a pair of doorman's around.

I watch on Amazon they have open box ones for like $8 or $9 all the time,
    cant go wrong there.

When you have one side break.....fix it sooner than later....
so you dont have to call AAA to break in it to get it home...

Even the metal ones have reported they did not beef them up in the right place....
still break at that exact same junction.

I replace my driver one with an oem one from Mcgeorge....crunchy as hell....makes noises when you open it.

I’ve never seen the metal ones in person but they look to be using plastic in the same place my original broke. The only thing metal looks to be the handle but I’ve been wrong before

What part on your's broke? On the metal ones I am using, everything that moves is metal.
