It wasn't a crime. And there's no grown-up reason to sit around trashing people we don't know...maybe if there's a biden sticker on his bumper? Even then...We serve no purpose indirectly extolling our own virtue to other strangers, even to those and maybe especially to those with whom we already agree.

    This and that...
First, you should go to a beach. Preferably a warm one. When hurricanes come ashore the dunes help with the storm surge. You're not even suppose to walk over them. Kills the vegetation that holds them there if everyone did it.

Yes. It very much is a crime to drive over the dunes and/or beach vegetation.

And I'm not a grown up. Im this many years old.

In situations like this, I have to disagree. This is not the same as the guilty until proven innocent culture on social media, this person was clearly in the wrong. If we don't self police and call these people out more lands will be closed to four wheeling/riding. These are the kind of things that cause landowners to take their land off trail systems. It's kind of like calling out bullies, if the cool crowd makes it clear this kind of crap isn't ok, maybe they will stop.

It is a great time. Some guys get a little crazy and you need to use caution and stay where you can be seen. The best part is back at camp!

North Carolina Outer Banks is a fragile eco system of barrier islands. The shoreline is breeding and nesting for protected species of wildlife.
Beach driving is by permit only and seasonal. Ramps are provided and maintained by National Park Service.
Signs are posted with rules at ramps.
Check out Outer Banks Idiots Facebook page "OBI" for more information.

FYI The idiot in question had to appear in Federal Court because this happened in The National Park.

People who make "silly choices" are still people who give everyone else a bad name. That's exactly what is wrong with this. I see it quite a bit in the mountain biking community as well. People who don't bother to listen to the rules and laws and ride while the trail is too muddy, or just plain closed, give the rest of the bikers a bad name and also ruin the trail for everyone else. Calling them out is the only way to remind everyone else that this is, in fact, a big deal.

Yes it is a crime, and not one that just impacts themselves; it impacts all of us. On top of the damage that they've done to the environment, it further damages the reputation of everyone who legally and responsibly offroads. There are groups out there that see us all as nature destroying ass hats, and that's because they don't care about the vast majority of us who respect laws and our surroundings, they only care about and see idiots like this. These instances get used as their ammo in the crusade to get more and more areas shut down.

Maybe it was just a brief lapse of judgement, or it was a "Bro, hold my white claw and watch this" moment... but either way, it was selfish, stupid, and it's frustrating AF to see.
