I am still having problems with the IAC on my 04. 2RZ. In the pic, the shroud is broken on the plug. If it were not for that break, it would not plug in. I have tried pushing the tab. Pulling up on the tab. It won't go on. I am ready to replace both the IAC and plug. Does anyone know of a source for this plug? It comes from the truck wiring harness, and attaches to the IAC at its plug receptacle.
    Thanks.

Well, it certainly helps that you let them know what part they are working on.

    Ahh. Throttle position sensor.
How can I test it? Is there a voltage I can safely test to verify its operation?
It is idled up too high.

    ^ that

But also the ECU is very good about throwing a TPS code when they're bad in my experience.

The ECU? I had not thought of that. I have a parts donor truck. I could frog one over.
How did you know yours had failed? Did you use a scanner for diagnostics?
The truck runs fine. The rpms are jacked up to 17-20k. Too high.

No, when the TPS is bad the ECU is good at telling you via a check engine light (CEL) .

I'm assuming you meant idle RPMs are 1700-2000? Is that what you're trying to diagnose? You never really said what your problem was

The idle is too high. Yes. 1700-2000 rpm's.
The temptation is to start throwing parts at it, but my wallet, and common sense dictate trying to identify the problem source first.

SES stays on. always has. There is a charcoal filter on the gas tank pressure that activates a code. That's been that way since I bought the truck. Now the CAT, and some other things make the SES stay on.

Pull the codes recently? Might be another code on top of the normal emissions code you're getting.

Pull the MAF and give it a cleaning with some sensor cleaner. I had a weird idle issue that seemed to take care of on my 4runner recently. Was more of a wonky low idle though, not a consistently high one.

I would think a bad TPS would be giving you more of a surging up/down idle and problems accelerating while driving along with a code

Did you ever get to the actual IAC valve? You can clean it and see if it helps without necessarily having to replace it. IAC valve (oem) is not cheap

Sure sounds like the iac is your culprit to me.
