You can always drive in a lower gear to turn more revs to get it warmer faster too.

+1. Most modern automatics will do that for you. My truck is a manual, but my wife's Civic will hold the gear longer to warm up the engine faster. Cat converters do not work well when they are cold, so the automakers do whatever they can to warm up the engine fast.

I did it again. Got tired of paying truck payments and gas and traded in for a 2015 Honda Accord Sport since I enjoyed my 2013 Sport so much.
I usually start the truck and let it idle until the engine temp hits 100F (by glancing at the ScanGauge).

After that I put it into drive and take it easy until it gets into normal operating temps.

I used to idle until the RPMs ducked under 1000 but that was taking too long and most people don't recommend idling that long (unless you're maybe in ND or Canada).

Unless, I'm late for work, then all bets are off.

warm up first for few minutes then drive off. One thing I hate the most is snow on my truck and ice on the windshield! Wish I have garage, oh well. It will be my truck first winter!!! I will play around in snow! Did same thing with my old 07 trailblazer. I bet my truck will be better than trailblazer!!

Yep, that's about the only reason I let my truck or car warm up.
Might have to scrape some snow and Ice off the windshield and mirrors, but as soon as I can I'm gone.

I just get in and drive, modern engines should be able to 'compensate' until they get to operating temp. If it's a standard I wouldn't redline it though (until it reaches op. temp.).

when it's very cold here (can get to below 30 celcius), I let it warm up at least 15 minutes so I can get in and not be freezing. I use my remote starter.

For the most part, I drive it.

However, if its 30 degrees or less..........I'll start my truck up just to warm up the cab so I don't freeze when I get in it!!

For me, it aint' about the truck warming up. It's all about my old age ass of mine needs warmth! ;)

I give it 15-30 seconds till it stops sounding "rough" if that makes sense.. revs drop a bit, then I go.

In the winter I go out in the morning, turn it on, crank the heater/defrost, then go back in and take a shower and get ready(15 minutes). By then the windshield is mostly clear and its toasty in the cab. Makes me want to go back to sleep. I'm sure its wasting a ton of gas but its habbit.

I don't know what is up with all these ''Drive immediately after starting'' guys, but where i come from, cold ass Russia to be exact, no one drives immediately after starting. I strongly suggest that you do not drive off without at least warming it for couple minutes in very cold weather.

Imagine its -40C, You barely start your engine, and then you just drive away very fast. I think anyone can agree no one should do that. I know you will say that driving away very fast is dumb, but driving away slow is still driving, which does the same damage but less serious. Simple logic.

i always warm up my truck...whether its in the summer or winter...

think about it this way...a complete cold start in the middle of winter...its not good to start up the engine put it in gear and just drive away...your putting strain on the engine because the oil isn't up to temperature yet...

it only take a few minutes tops to warm up the engine...

when my truck is in the mountains...I usually let it warm up for 3-4 minutes...depending what the temperature is outside...but I love my Viper 5900...gotta love that remote start security...:D

Once the oil light goes off, you have oil pressure and circulation. Multi viscosity oil flows quite well at colder temps. Nothings getting hurt.

None currently, but I would like a better sounding exhaust and perhaps a cold air pack and some color coded step bars
Most of the time, during the winter months especially if there is frost all over the windows or that other white stuff, I let it idle while I clear it off, during the other 3 months, I usually just drive off at a moderate speed and let the truck warm up by driving it.
I never push my truck over 2500 untill the temp is up.
