Hey everyone i've had this P0171 code for about a month so two days ago i began to get some maintenance done. I began by tossing some Seafoam in the vacuum line from the brake booster, in the crank case, and gas tank. I ran the crap out of it for two days and it felt like i had a brand new engine! TODAY, I went in and replaced plugs and wires with factory plugs (Denso) and NGK wires. While i had things apart I cleaned the TB and I pulled off the MAF sensor and cleaned it with CRC MAF sensor cleaner. When i put everything back and turned on the truck it idled at 2500 which i thought was okay because the truck was completely cold. After about 15 min the truck was still idling at 2200rpm so i turned off the truck. When i turned it back on the idle was at 1000 so i took the truck for a spin and drove for about 30 min. At every stop the idle was between 1900-2400rpm. Ive checked all the lines and everything seems to be in the right place. ANy help would be greatly appreciated.

You could have flushed a bunch of junk down into the IAC Idle Air Control.
Thats located under the Throttle Body.
It could be also that you now have a clean throttle body bore and your car has to relearn and adjust to the increased amount of air entering it.
Maybe disconnect the battery for a while to reboot the system so it can reset itself?.

You could also check and see if your butterfly in the Throttle body is moving freely.

thanks for the reply! I tried my best to keep stuff out of my IAC, but im sure some got in. Would i be able to take it off and flush it out since it has a couple of lines running out of it? before i put the intake back i checked the butterfly and it was moving when i turned the throttle cables. Ill see if pulling the battery works. Thanks for the help

FIXED IT!! I pulled the neg battery cable and ECU and left it for about 10 min made some coffee then put it all back on. When i turned the engine on it idled extremely low for a cold engine, but every 30 sec it moved up in RPMS until it reached 2000. After about 10 minutes the idle slowly dropped to about 700-900. IT PURRSss like a kitten and has such great response when i drive it. It feels like a new truck. Thanks for the suggestions SIN
