The only time I see RPM needle bounces around is when the fan kicks in, ac or heater engaging. Did you check your engine and tranny oil?

With this new motor, it's likely it will do some things most of us will wonder about! Every morning that I start mine, it pops up to about 1000rpm for a minute or two. That seems normal to me, as the rpm will slowly slow down as the motor warms. This morning, it jumped up to 1600-1800 and seemed to want to stay there. Waited about a minute or so with no change, so slipped it into gear and drove off. I know there's some injector cleaning that occurs, but haven't read enough to understand exactly how and when that happens.

I called the dealer and asked this same question. The technician said that he hadn't heard any complaints as of yet but "if he was a betting man" that it's probably the engine running a "self clean" on the injectors. The weird thing is when mine did it my phone was on the Qi charging pad and kept saying that it was charging then not charging. I only have 600 miles though and it hasn't done it since. I'll get back with the next occurrence if it's a repeat.

self cleaning only runs when the engine is hot and idle and at a pre determined interval.
