I have a new Tacoma Trd off road and when I turn the ac on low the Rpms jump from 500 to 1000 when its in park about every 10 seconds is that normal. It doesn't do it when I turn it on high

Normal. It's related to your compressor kicking on.

Power steering will do it too. Turn the wheel hard and fast when parked you'll see the tach jump a little.

Not sure about the difference between high and low that you describe, but it is normal for the idle RPM to jump up when the AC compressor kicks in (same for almost every vehicle out there).
    My truck does it.

Yeah i know it should jump up and down when it kicks on but to do it every 10 sec is a lot

Take it to the dealer and they'll tell you it's "normal for the vehicle" too. Welcome to the Turd Gen life!

Its a known behavior. Essentially, the ac on low doesn't cause enough current draw to require the engine to increase throttle until after 10 seconds. Thats why power steering will do it too. I believe the dealer may have a fix, but it will cause a slight increase in idle fuel consumption.

I suppose it could depend on a few things - like if it's really freakin hot and it's set to fresh air vice re-circ.

It should get better as the miles pile on, the engine should adjust but it may still do it once in a while

Poor calibration. The AC RPM adder may be set to add too many RPMs on AC compressor engagement.

Mine does it too. I wish there was a way to turn up the base RPM from the super low 500 to 800 or so...
