Question and can't seem to find a solution. I have 2015 4x4 double cab short bed 6 cylinder, 22K. Great truck and very happy except. The truck idled at 1100+ rpm. I put in gear and drops then to 800+-
Any way to get the idle in park or coming to a stop to go to the normal 800 rpm as all previous toyotas/Lexus vehicles I've owned did? Anyone able to help solve this. Thanks

    Is it fully warmed up?

Mine fully warmed in gear will idle as low as 500rpm, a/c will jump it up to 700.

Yes, fully warm. It's 1500+ when cold. Dealer says normal but seems way high!

When fully warm it should idle at 700 RPM.

Check for a small leak on a vacuum line... or intake.

I noticed when i switched from 87 to 93 octane fuel, it seemed like the idle rpms were much smoother when in neutral without the ac on. I could just be crazy, but i also have the 4cyl and it seems to idle more smoothly with higher octane as well.. just a thought?

Another thing it might be is if youve unplugged the battery recently, it might have to relearn the fuel maps and other things before it smooths out.. hoping youve unplugged the battery recently.. otherwise sorry if this post was of no help..

I've got an obd II scan tool that gives a digital reading for the rpms. My truck idles between 612-617 rpm when warm, about 1200 rpm for a couple of minutes when it's cold and I just started the truck, and between 700-730 rmp when warm and put into park. I also notice when the A/C is on, the rpms jump up around 60 rpm for a few seconds, then idle drops back to normal, than about 5 seconds later the rpms jump up around 60 again, over and over, like it goes through a cycle or something to power the A/C.

All vehicles with AC do this "idle up".

I just baught my 1997 Toyota tacoma 4x4 sunday the 15th and it was idling at 1250 till this morning the 18th on my way to work my truck died an when I able to start it back up the idle was at 750 an has stayed there. Could it had happened from putting in a new battery or what could it be?
