    Howdy,

I recently just finished some repairs/updates to my '01 2.7 manual Taco, and now when it idles, it will frequently bog down, and it just recently stalled while I was in neutral coming to a stop.

The recent repairs included/started with replacing the MAF because the old one recently quit out on me.

Then I just swapped out my AC compressor. I didn't have my AC belt hooked up for the past 2 and 1/2 years until now, if that makes a difference. Of course, in the process of putting the new AC belt on, I had to take the fan belt off and put it back on.

Lastly, I just installed an aftermarket Rostra Cruise Control kit.

All of these I put in within a 1 and 1/2 week period. I didn't drive it much at all between installing the new MAF and the compressor, and I noticed it started bogging after I got a evacuation and recharge at my local goodyear. After it stalled on me today and I got it back home, I did try running it with the MAF sensor unplugged in my driveway to see if it would idle normal, but it still stalled right as I started it up the first time, but the second time I started it it idled fine.

Any advice on where to start trouble shooting would be appreciated. My initial guess is something to do with the tension of the belts? That might just be wishful thinking though.

Could try disconnection the battery for a while to reset the ecu memory. Doing things like cleaning MAF or replacing one thats acting up the ecu doesn't know you did this work so it could still be compensating. Just a quick easy thing to try.

I've seen the duct on the intake hose fall out and cause this. Check the intake pipe carefully.

I had the battery disconnected for many hours while doing the cruise control install. I was hoping that as I drove it more it would sort itself out, but that was not the case. I forgot to mention that it also has been occasionally having belt chirp, which it never had before.

I didn't notice anything, and the only part of the intake I messed with were the two screws to take the MAF off.

it was running fine until you did the MAF and AC. Is MAF OEM? Extra load from the AC can exacerbate underlying issues. Issues that maybe weren't noticeable since you had the AC belt off for a while.

If you can't narrow it down to MAF or AC, you may just need to run the common tests for rough idle.

Not OEM, no, but I have ordered an OEM one now. It definitely could be a compounded issue. For all I know, it is just the combination of a non-stock MAF and the AC belt getting put back on.
