    Hey guys,

Thinking back to when I first got the Tacoma, there was a broken VSV in the front of the engine, above the timing cover. It was just kind of dangling with no real place to be. I bought a aftermarket replacement that didn't fit. Truck ran fine without it, but I'm really trying to tighten this Taco back up. What would be the symptoms of this delete? I'm sure they put it there for a reason. Just identified it in a 5vzfe Schematic and made me remember.

    Feel free to chime in,
    Thanks

It's there to raise the idle when the Air Conditioner is turned on and when there is very high electrical load.

@Speedytech7 do you know if it should be open or closed when A/C is off/ low electrical load? I'll have to look again, but I'm not even sure if there was an electrical connector... maybe it it is buried.

@Bivouac what do you mean the electrical side should be open? Also I am looking at the schematics and it looks like one port runs to the air cleaner, but can't seem to trace back where the other port goes.

    Thanks for the help

The default state is open circuit, closed valve when AC is off.

@Speedytech7 I have been experiencing high idle, just cleaned the IAC and RPM have dropped, but are still ~1200 in park. I'm thinking that my removal of the Idle-up VSV may be contributing to this. Since it is "open" all the time with no valve.

Oh yeah if you just connected the two vacuum lines together it would raise your idle a lot. If anything just cap the two lines instead of joining them and then your idol will be whatever it's supposed to be without the AC on

Okay so something is weird here. Was your engine swapped from something else. You have the 1998+ intake manifold that only has a single front nipple and the wrong thing is connected to it.

Check and see if you have an unused nipple where my arrow is pointing, it would be on the back side and pretty noticeable.

Yup thats the idle up connector, and I have a spare one of those valves and the bracket you're welcome to but your intake manifold is the wrong one for your year, it is missing the nipple for the valve.

Spark plug wires are missing their holder too and I don't see the power steering load vacuum line either.

@Speedytech7 I did put a new engine in. When I bought the truck it had a S/C. Had a valve break and and decided to drop a rebuilt engine in to start with known parts. Didn't know about S/C back then, after reading the @1997tacomav6 S/C thread makes me wanna slap it back on. No port on the back of the intake plenum.

Hmm okay, so you're probably just missing some parts. Let's figure out what you have and don't have

You probably don't have the EGR stuff so no worries there, very few 5VZ engines have it

That blue check valve is for the 4WD system, it's a check valve/filter. Keeps those solenoids from getting mucked up with oil/fuel vapor from the manifold
