    I do.
    Some days 1911, some days Kahr PM9.
    Are you sure you understand the rules?
    Why a G34?

    While I have not personally competed I have observed several IDPA matches with some particupants using the G34. It supposedly has the advantage of a longer barrel and an improved trigger in addition to firing the 9mm round which is less prone to recoil. The two individuals I spoke to in particular had done nothing to their G34 but add a Ghost connector and upgrade the sights. One told me if he was going to do any serious customizing he'd get a custom gun to start with.

    Yeah been looking around. I feel better with the full size and compact. I have a 1911 but that's my carry gun. I know I want a Glock 9mm 17 19 34. Hmm

    Glock=1911
    Prius=Tacoma

    IDPA rules focus on useage consistent with concealed carry.
    G34 would be more of a IPSC piece.
    Whatever....have fun...be safe....learn.

    GUNS Annual 2012 Buyers Guide has an article by Bryce Towsley discussing the Glock in IDPA competition. He says the 34 is the ideal pistol for IDPA competition with its extended barrel, greater slide dimensions and the longer distance between the sights. Bryce was one of the founders of the IDPA in 1996.

    YMMV

    I wanted a 34 at one time and the guy that got me started in action pistol shoots a 35 because it makes major PF...google Dale Rhea.
    I tell my son 'we practice the way we play' when it comes to football, soccer....same equipment, same intensity.
    I believe in that for IDPA, too.
    If you plan to use G34(I guess any Glock, based on grip angle)for self defense, then use it as your game gun.
    Some of the competitors view it as a competition...for me, it's practice.
    I choose 1911 for games because it's likely to be the one I use if a more serious situation arises.
    Same for my Kahr, which is my carry piece.
    Practice the way you play.

    G34 is my "3 gun" pistol, i ccw a 9mm glock, i put some warren sights on it, talon gun grips, and polished all of the trigger components (25c trigger job) i love it and can shoot it very well/fast
