If an EMP hit what parts would we need on hand to get up and running?

Battery, ECU, BCM, trans brain if auto would get you moving again but you'ed have all kinds of lights and be in limp mode as effectively all sensors would be knocked out, essentially you would need to replace anything that carries or holds current.

In your theoretically improbable situation were your truck to be hit by an EMP you would effectively need a new truck.

That said if you were in an area high enough profile and tactically desirable enough to be worth being EMP'ed you would probably already be dead or would be dead soon.

I wouldn't worry about it as it's an extreme statistical improbability and effectively fuck all you can do about it if it ever were to happen, which it won't.

It would be easier to keep a points-based ignition VW beetle around than deal with this.

Also, it’s worth noting that an EMP is a much shorter-range problem than many people assume. You’re probably going to worry more about the nuclear pressure wave than the EMP

Pretty sure it's going to be just about anything with an electrical wire coming out of it in your Tacoma. Unless you're willing to swap every single transistor over to tubes, or swap you truck for a very old vehicle, don't bother.

On the other hand, the range of EMP from nuclear weapons is only a couple hundred miles in the absolute worst case. In reality it's likely less than 100 miles.

From what I understand.....even parts on hand would be fried.

I'll keep my bicycle handy........although, I don't think it will be needed.

Unless you have an emp proof bunker to put all your spare parts in.. you're done either way

If I'm close enough to see a nuclear flash, I'm going towards it. Not interested in surviving a mess like that.

Or if I chicken out, I'll just hide under my desk like they taught us in elementary school in the '60s when Cuba was saber rattling.

    Duck and cover.........

Might want to look at an old military CUCV (Civilian Utility Cargo Vehicle) - the Army term for the Chevy P/U (M1008) and Blazers (M1009) of the early to mid 80's. Not much in the way of electronics. I drove them when I was in the Army and would still buy one today if I get the opportunity. You could get one already painted in camo.
