I got a neighbor who would respond "how much you pay for that?"

I really do not know ... I am asking seriously.

Is driving for Uber or Lyft really make enough profit to be a job? Or is Uber driving rather like the sad person delivering pizza in their fleeced BMW just to recover the fleece costs?

I don't think a decked out tacoma with 13 mpg would be an ideal driver for Uber, but for some its you get what you can get or they haven't done the math..

I wish my Uber would show up in a Tacoma.
Mine always show up in a clapped out Altima missing a wheel cover.

I'd hate sitting anywhere other than the driver seat in a Tacoma.

    I think it's more of a side-hustle.

I seem to always get a young Chinese kid driving a Mercedes or Lexus SUV. Very Polite, puts my bags in the back, no chit-chat. It's nice when you want to get home. It would be fun to get someone in a hot pre runner, who drove on the side walk and over the meridian though, just for grins and giggles.

Would get a ton of 2* reviews due to legroom and seat comfort, lol.

I've only had one Uber ride in the last year. And it was in a black Tacoma auto with stock rims, but had raptor lights.

I joked with the guy could he please pick me up in a MT next time.

But it's also Northern Colorado. The Tacoma is standard issue here.

Not a taco, but one random pretty snowy night when most of the other drivers were done (most of the cars can't handle snow, etc), there was a guy with a F150 doing rides. Lifesaver. I can see breaking out the Taco for that sort of thing, if I was to drive at all.

driving for any of them is very similar to being a drug dealer. there's money to be made, but the product creator-- drugs or uber, are taking the majority of the profits. they're all pyramid schemes--where the only real benefit to staying with either is to rise up in the ranks to make more money...

    https://www.nber.org/papers/w6592
    https://www.gobankingrates.com/money/side-gigs/how-much-do-uber-drivers-make/
    * but uber also pays drivers as contractors, meaning that all their costs and materials are also paid out of that total. so it won't count for fuel, maintenance, or toll costs that a driving job would typically have more of. the median is probably closer to $25k-30k after factoring in annual 'contractor' costs...

Where would you sit, in the bed of the truck or awkward front seat passenger?

That read like how the average Corvette owner would talk about their truck if they bought a Tacoma to explain why its unique and the best version of it haha

it really reminds me of how my brother once tried avidly explaining how his $2400, 25 year old rusting pontiac grand prix was 1-of-30 special because it was factory optioned in white paint and gray cloth seats...
