Yes in a flash I would buy another Tacoma as I love it. I don't off road so no need to mod by lifting etc etc. This is just for normal commute and light off road to camp, pulling boat trailer, atvs, snowmobile etc etc.Good enough for what I need it for plus lots of power and good gas mileage.

Been in Tacoma's since gen 1 days. Parted with them to trade in new. I did try out a Frontier and put 185K on it and it was falling apart...interior was garbage. In saying that, I'm probably going to keep this gen 3 but when the world settles down again, I'm adding a 4 runner to the mix.

Likely yes because I've always wanted one and after a long history of tired older 4Runners and Land Cruisers I finally splurged on a new one.

Now... if the selection on dealer lots, and the pricing and deals, had been pre-COVID shortages normal, I would have explored more options, though likely ended up in the same place.

If I were doing it today and assuming I could actually put my hands on them in person, I would for sure test drive the new Nissan Frontier and maybe the Jeep Gladiator.

We leased the Tacoma as a stop-gap for an eventual new Bronco purchase. But the rollout for that rig has been so terrible, and we've fallen in love with the Tacoma, that things might not go that way in the future. I guess we'll see how it all pans out. My wife really wants our next 4x4 to have a removable top so the Wrangler and Bronco will be the top test drives in 3 years.

100% would buy the Tacoma. The family needs a truck, and I have always bought manual transmission vehicles. The Taco lets me get MOST of the nice options (carplay, leather, sunroof...but no upgraded audio) with the manual.

My circumstances have changed since I got my 2017. Today, at this very moment, I would have opted for a full size truck. Most likely a Tundra. I would bite the bullet and skip out on my manual fetish for a growing family.

Well - primer gray is in fashion these days anyway… :)

I did my research when looking. Went with the MT Tacoma a few months back.

Today, yes, I’d choose / buy the taco again… and yes I would still get it only in a manual gearbox! (It’s the best part!)

The taco is decently equipped, and relatively simple (compared to most new vehicles.

It fits the bill -(My bill) right out of the box!
(Well, with the addition of off-road tires, sliders, 2wheel-low mod, and coming RSI Cap, etc., etc.).

When there is a proven off road EV (full electric) out there though… I will be looking at that very seriously!

Yes I would buy a taco again as i think they are better now than when I bought my 2016. but i bought Toyota platinum warranty for 8 years 125,000 miles. I wouldn't buy anything any more without the best extended warranty you can afford. these trucks are going to get you sooner or later so make sure you have towing insurance too. I have had issues and the dealer fixed them gave me a rental care and we move on. its nothing like my 1974 Bronco where when it was sold was the last time it ever saw the dealer as everything that was a problem was a strait up just fix it. no computers to get in the way. for the Tacoma, the truck is better than the electronic and electrical system that supports it.

What other option do you have? there isnt a reliable modern car out there, they all have hiccups. when its your turn, it is your turn to box it out with the dealer.

at 62 years old i went in thinking this was my last forever truck but I know now, it wont be, I will replace it with a rebuilt old simple truck after the warranty is out. I am looking now for the right candidate. Maybe a short bed 70-s ford pick-up or an additional early Bronco for 2028. their are allot of options and I have time to deal with it. well see how it goes.

If I had waited any longer I probably would have bought the Fiat Gladiator at the time. Now I'm glad it wasn't an option at the time.

If I were buying today I would probably get an F150 with the generator option, or an AT4 with the 6.2L, just because they're pretty plush and I've realized how much I like road trips and I'm ending up tow/hauling more than I thought I would. I also just don't get much opportunity to do as much off-roading as I thought, especially in Texas where there's no public land, and I would probably be fine renting a rig when I go somewhere. But I've made my taco pretty decent by adding sound deadening and fox suspension, and everything I've tried to tow/haul has been fine so I have no reason to move to a full size.

I've got a dual cab long bed so I have the best version of the taco to get, and when I install the twin turbo kit I'll probably be satisfied enough to not even think about changing vehicles.

True story. When I test drove the ZR2 the front locker locker switch locked the rear and vice versa!

I would say no, but... not because of anything wrong with the truck - The Taco has taken me places I doubt I'd ever been able to go with just about any other vehicle, and it's done so without ever having any issues. I get bored of most vehicles in about 3 years, and I start searching for something new to play with. In this case, I'm trying to decide if I should hold on to the Taco until the Rivian launches and initial kinks are worked out, or if I go on a search for something completely different to hold on to for another 3 years then get a Rivian or some other electrified truck. My hope was to keep the taco as a "Forever" truck and drive it until it's paid off then get another commuter vehicle, but I don't think I'll have the right space to keep 3 vehicles in/around my house for the near future. If the right circumstances came up, I would buy another Tacoma in a heartbeat.

You can fit a child seat in an A/C if you put it in the middle.

I wouldn't even drive a double cab with a child seat. They are tiny in the back. If I had a fam it would def be a full size. For me the Tacoma right now is perfect as it fits in the garage and I don't haul people around in it

I have a rear-facing child seat in my DCSB right now. No issues whatsoever--Diono Radian 3RXT with an angle adjuster.

I think coming from a full size to this truck has made me realize how much smaller this one is. The full size was like a couch back there. I am short so I am sure I could fit without issue with a seat in there

It's definitely smaller than a full size, no doubt. That said, I'm 6 feet and have plenty of room. The angle adjuster for the car seat makes a huge difference.

The "We want to have kids soon" is a big player in the search for a replacement for us, too. full size truck back seats are just so much easier to move around and adapt with.
