Definitely would buy again. I’m on my 3rd tacoma. First one was 2009 trd Sport. Second was 2017 SR, and now 2021 trd sport 4x4.

Have you tried pre-order? It's possible that's just what's left on the lot. Maybe you can build one cheaper, if you're willing to wait. My daughter just gave a deposit on a 2DR '22 Bronco with the options she wanted and is at $37K plus tax & title fees. The cheapest thing on the lot was close to $70. If you can wait - pre-order. I think that's the way things will be going anyway.

Lower trim levels not sold in Canada so cannot be ordered. Only option for me would be to import from US but isn't feasible due to exchange rates, warranty issues and general shemozzle to do so.

With the price increases since ‘16 when I ordered mine. Plus inflation. Plus HOT market (less negotiating). Plus gas prices. Sadly I could not afford to

    * If not, why? What would you buy instead? Why?
    - something small and economical. Like a basic civic. MAYBE a Subaru. (And rent/borrow a truck when I needed one)

Not a Toyota but a Ford Maverick hybrid ticks all the boxes and then some. Starting at $29K here and better fuel economy than a Honda Civic.

*Yes. I’d still buy the Tacoma, as it suits my needs and desires at the moment. This may change.

*NA. Again, the Tacoma suits my needs at this time: fits in the garage, affordable vs my other options, off road ability, and fun to modify and drive.

*No problems, per se. I’d like more power and 33s without chopping, but it has proven reliable in every way for 30,000 miles.

    *No.

*My other option was a base, white, xtra cab Ford Raptor. My previous vehicle was a 2003 F150 Fx4 that gave me 17 years and 252,000 miles. No complaints there. But after I paid for the Tacoma plus mods, I was also able to get a sweet little trailer to pull behind it, all for the price of the Raptor.

*I loved the Raptor but not the price tag. Also, now that I’ve been off-roading extensively over the last couple years, I never see Raptors on the trail in AZ, nor would I want something so big out there.

That's a nifty lil camper trailer you got there. All you really need is a place to sleep, right?

Can you provide link for make/model/price of adventure toy?

    thanks!

Thanks. Yes - a rolling bed and kitchen with solar, heat and running water. It’ll wheel, too.

Heads up, though. Like everything, the price has gone up considerably since I ordered mine in June, 2020. I paid 26k, as specified. That, combined with the truck and mods, came to virtually the same price as the stripped Raptor I wanted.

Here’s a link to the trailer:

    Holy-moly!

    A 2022 F-150 Raptor starts out at $68,675???

I'm happy with my lil 2021 TRD Sport: $38,803 with floor liners/door sill protectors.

    I've done...maybe about $5K in add-ons/upgrades which still puts me under: $44K

The background of pic you posted reminds me of southern NM.

I'm just looking at the site you linked in...

If I had to buy again, I'd take a hard look at the new refresh of the Frontier. It seems to be the only one besides the taco that ticks my boxes. I like a lot of things about the gladiator too, but hate paying 30% more to have the same buttons.

    A) Off-road is subjective. The taco is great out of the box but only for mild to moderate trails. If you want bulletproof rock crawling, a side-by-side or a dirtbike are pretty much your only ready-to-go vehicles, and even those aren't as bulletproof as the marketers say they are. The Tacoma doesnt surf 30 foot waves and you don't get to meet Chuck Norris on purchase. Lesson learned.

    B) For future reference, put mods into your entertainment budget. A 15 dollar movie ticket buys you 2 hours, 20 dollars at the low-rollers blackjack table buys you maybe an hour of fun before it disappears, and 10 thousand dollars worth of mods buys you 50,000 miles of entertainment. No refunds if you exit the ride early. :cookiemonster: We all have to learn that lesson sometime, and most of us learned it the hard way too.

I've mentioned it before (maybe in this thread, I forget) that I had a 2019 Frontier for about 2 months last summer. Was more than I needed DCSB, I would definitely go for AC or regular cab (if that exists). It wasn't bad and perhaps if I had more of my creature comforts I would be more enthusiastic. Fuel mileage sucked but mine is a regular cab 4 banger so not necessarily fair comparison

I would. It fits me. I have had full size trucks and may get another one day, but I enjoy driving my Tacoma.

I have had both the 2wd long bed access cab and the 4wd short bed 4 door… if I was to buy a Tacoma again it would be a 4wd access cab

I would absolutely buy it again. Came from a 2019 Silverado, and prior to that a GMC Canyon. This is by far a better truck for me.

I love my 2 Tacoma's but within the past month I got the undercarriage of my '13 sprayed and they gave me a loaner. Shiny new truck should be good right? Each time I tried to start it, it wouldn't turn over. Only turned over the second time. Why?

Typical vehicle that sits for a while, battery starts to drop crank amps. If it is a new loaner, just running it for a while should bring battery back up to full amp/hr capacity. This is not unusual, at a car dealer. And if you live in cold climates, it's worse.
