This survey was asked by Toyota to see if they can squeeze another $5K out of us.

Hmmm, that is a really great question. I like to think I would go with the standard, to be honest however, I may fork out the 5,000 for the Automatic. Usually the 5,000 dollar "add ons" come with a package these days like fog lights or speakers so you don't feel like you are getting bent over. You probably deep down know you are getting f...well you know it but you can act like your are getting a great deal. Lets face it, if we want it bad enough and we can get the cash then we will pay for it, am I wrong?

I wouldn't get an AT in a Taco if it was free.

If the Tacoma was the only midsize selection, yes. But if I'm paying that much, might as well just go full size.

I’d pay a extra 5 grand for a third gen with the 4.0, 6 speed manual, DCLB, elocker rear end, paint matched bumpers, and a sport hood.

I learned to drive stick on a 72 VW Bug. With the exception of 1, every car has been a stick. I like the control of a stick, putting it in any gear I know it will stay there until I shift.
However after multiple knee/leg surgeries,I finally decided to buy an automatic. It's not perfect and does struggle to hold gears at Colorado/Utah I-70 speeds (75-80) especially towing. I've learned to put it in manual/sport mode.
I still have a nice 6 speed stick Honda and my 00 Tacoma stick.

I see some scooters coming out with auto shifting now. I don't think I could handle riding an "auto shifting" bike so I understand the gear jammin crowd.

    Canada Eh!
FWIW in Canada the 6AT Pro is exactly $4k (CAD) more expensive than the 6MT Pro.

But then again, that’s not just for the transmission..it’s crawl control, smart key, push button start, remote start, and JBL.

Thankfully this one has a 6 speed Manual, hopefully that catches on.

My 2016 Honda VFR 1200X DCT took a while to get used to. The first couple weeks I was always grabbing for the clutch, trying to shift up with my left foot to bang through the gears.

It is a 900 HP Electric, believe Ford calls it the Lithium Mustang. Has a 6 Speed Manual that lets you choose Automatic Mode and just putting the shifter in 3rd, or select the Manual Mode and have at it with the clutch.

Now the shaker scoop will be a solar panel on the hood. 50 more HP on a sunny day.

My garage car is a MT and wouldn’t have it any other way. My truck is my daily and I prefer the AT, that and my designated driver doesn’t drive MT so $5k would still be cheaper than the alternative.
