If the back of your cab was painted... how would you expect this done?

How should this repair actually be done back there? I am familiar with paint work, however; not bodyshop practices...

A good body shop should make it look factory except for more orange peel in the paint and usually the colors don't match absolutely perfectly unless the have a great blending guy. Body gaps are tough to get back to factory but they shouldn't be too far off, maybe 1-2mm difference.
    Anything less is shitty work.

Shops who dont pull trim to paint should not be in business. Have them pull it and do it right.

There are no "Toyota body shop"

    They are independent body shops

Aren't you selling the truck anyways ? New buyer won't know

    Not your problem

We have onne of the oldest "Toyota bodyshops" locally. It's 50 years old. Bodyshops that are in house (USA ) at a dealership are just Toyota certified. They are not Toyota N.A. owned.

Well if you are gonna disclose and take a loss

Then you need to go for diminished value claim

So if you got 20 emails wanting to buy your truck, what's the date it will be sold ?

Will you still remain member here ?

    Good luck :)

    No sarcasm intended

I am interested to know what you get for your 17, as I want to see how the used market will be for my Pro once I order my next truck

I genuinely feel bad for you and your truck situation . I mean at least as bad as an American can feel about non Americans :D

I already answered you. Have the shop redo it right by pulling the trim. It doesnt matter where the damage is. It should be done right the first time.

Still doesn't matter. If the window has to come out then thats just part of the job and should have been quoted in the estimate. Needs to be done right.

Trim, glass, weatherstripping and all should be removed for a good job. I wouldn't accept anything less.

At the very least I would have expected is putting a cord between the window frame and cab to space it out a little so the paint flows under the window. When the paint is set up pull the cord and the window sits down properly. Unless these back windows are glued in like the front windshield. I don't know I have not pulled a 3rd gen rear window.
