@crashnburn80 's gladiator thread is a good follow. He's pretty objective on where it is and isn't better than a taco.

Seriously I considered the ridgeline for my needs at this point in time. I would look at other model trucks as well that are compact like this one

My next truck will not be a Taco, only because my kids will be older and I’ll need a bigger cab. If that were right now I’d be looking at F150s , Tundras and 4Runners. But man I don’t know if I could do a Tundra right now. That truck really falls short of its competition.

Because all fantasies aside, my stupid brain can't get over the idea of paying more than 40k for a midsize truck. I'm still mad that I'm paying a lot more than 30k for a midsize truck.

I would drive a first gen Tundra. Access cab with the V8 and RWD. Dont need 4wd on a big truck I would never off road on anything other than a dirt road. Unlike the Taco.

Agreed. Ha I almost added that to the post last night but figured somebody else had made that point.

For what it's worth, I'd probably go with a Frontier or a 4Runner. I looked at the new Ranger back when I was shopping around, but the Tacoma was a (mostly) proven ride, so I went with it.

I wouldn’t mind a Ridgeline. A Rivian would be sweet in a few years too.
As much as a true off road worthy truck would be nice, the fuel economy is starting to bug me. $50 a tank a week hurts.
But then I’d have to buy a side by side or something, so I could still play.

I was looking at the F150, but didn't give the Ranger much thought. I didn't like the look and didn't like that Ford seemed to half-ass the return by bringing over the 10-year-old international model and only making minor changes, but insisting it was "all new." I wasn't going to get another mid-size truck until I saw a badass looking blue/black Tacoma sitting in the snow on my way back from a winter vacation and couldn't get it out of my head.

We’ll considering I just dumped my Taco and I got this, that I’m happy with…

Payment sucks but having saved 7k off plus 0 percent makes it easier to swallow.

I guess I would go back to my FJ Cruiser / Chevy Corvette combo package! I sure do miss the Vette sometimes.
