All of those weigh a shit ton. Would be silly to put that much weight in the front of the Tacoma. If the Tacoma were to have a deisel, odds are, it would be a Hino made unit.

The only ones that make a smaller deisel, are the Cummins (still too large for the Tacoma though), and Izuzu. Being as the smaller Cummins engines are mostly for generators, they are out. The Izuzus are in cahoots with GM, so they are out. So, once again, it would be up to Hino to produce one for the Tacoma.

Im sure the Toyota brains (aside from dealing with their current situation) are working on one to compete with the domestic 3/4 and 1 ton markets. Not sure if they are playing with the idea of one in the Tacoma, though IIRC, the Hilux already has one in it.

the best bet woiuld be a 4BT cummins. its an inline 4 and weighs a hell of a lot less than the fullsize engines

    I wouldn't mind seeing a Cummins in a Tundra.

None of those three would happen as they are already affiliated with another (american) brand. I would like a toyota-designed diesel! If that would be possible.

Deck plate, Flowmaster Delta-Flow 40 series, 265/75-16 Wrangler TDs, more to come...

Just because Isuzu is "in cahoots with GM" doesn't mean they are out...Let's recall the Toyota Matrix, Pontiac Vibe venture...

BUT...I really hope they wouldn't put an Isuzu/Duramax in a Tacoma. I'd like to see a Cummins in one. How about someone retrofit a larger VW TDI motor in one just for S&Gs.

I'm pretty sure Toyota has a line of diesel motors in the stable they could use already if it weren't for California's T2B5 BS that holds the rest of the country down. I'd love to the USA use diesel motors the rest of the world use. Don't they already have a diesel Hilux or diesel Toyota SUV rolling around somewhere?
