I took my sport on some unmaintained roads, man am I glad I made it. You make it sound like sports can only drive on pavement, so I guess off roads can't drive on pavement?

oh they can easily make it. but when you get into the hard trails is where it will get different.

In all honesty the point I realized its worth it with MTS was just being on the trails with other tacomas mainly 2nd gen sports. Regardless the MTS is amazing. Seeing so many spots where they would need to take a running start etc cause one wheel would come off or be on soft spots and they would just spin where in rock setting I just crawl up it no problem.

I've tried crawl control. didn't help in any of the spots but seriously MTS is amazing. I've been so impressed with how well it actually works in the rock setting.

I agree. Toyota should have did something to make the TRD sport stand out more. At minimum it should have came with the rear locker and the hood scoop should have been made functional instead of a hood ornament.
It does make the sport feel like just a cosmetic package over the other TRD models.

Of course you can offroad! my buddy has a Sport and we've done some decent trails together but he wishes he'd gotten the OR. Hell people can go a lot further in a 2wd than they get credit for! But if my primary focus of the truck was offroading, I'd want the OR model unless I planned to buy the sport and put in a locker, etc.,

I offroad couple times a month... so the rest is on pavement and it does pretty well. but when I get in a touchy situation which I have I appreciate the OR :)

People love the Sports too though so no bashing here just calling it for what it is in terms of the focus of each design...

I would've gotten a PRO if they'd made it in Blazing Blue.

I would probably add the new factory leather option to my Offroad if I were to do it again.

I have a '17 Inferno TRD Off Road, would get same thing but with the TRD Premium package which adds dual climate, moonroof, leather, heated seats and JBL sound system. It was hard to find OR with Premium package that was within 2 hours of me and even if I did those things aren't $4K nice. Now I did get my truck 2 hours from my house but I was staying in the area for that weekend so it was really only a 15 min drive. Still love my truck and used $4k towards mods like new rear bumper, front guard, lighting and much more.

I bought the off road because it looks cool and has a soft suspention witch helps with the bad roads in Jersey. I don't go off roading so I could have saved a lot of money with an SR and some upgrades. I could have tried a 4 cyl, mt work truck, they had lots of them. It's not like a dealer will have every truck in every color and every option. I was lucky when I found a white one just before I gave up and it was a leftover so I got 2 grand off the sticker and I jumped on it but I should not have traded in my Wrangler.

If you asked a month ago, I would have said a Limited, but I am really happy with my MGM Sport and got exactly the color and spec that I wanted. MGM was my second choice, but now, I am glad I got it! Probably saved a couple grand over a Limited also! Only thing I dont like about the sport is the suspension, seems too firm a ride for me, and going over speed bumps daily in my community is a little jarring, but I just picked up a used set of OR shocks and coilovers so hoping that will make a difference in the ride quality.

Can't wait to hear how the OR stuff changes the ride. I also believe the sport has sway bar but not the OR, any one know if that's correct

The guy I bought the shocks from said his OR had a sway bar that he removed so I would say yes. I hope the ride improves. That was the justification to the wife for buying them...LOL :kona:

I thought about picking up some OR take offs, but have decided to leave it be, and when needed I'll get what I need to lift it a little.

I didnt want a lift at all, just smoother ride. I am waiting alittle before replacing the shocks to be sure that is what I want to do before voiding the warranty.

Exactly, I will not do anything until the warranty is up. No reason for them to deny anything.

Bummer. You can get an Access Cab TRD Sport with V6, M/T and 6ft bed here in the states. That was my first choice but they weren't in stock within 300 miles when I was shopping.
