People like different stuff. I have fun with manuals. But my “fun” is another persons tedious chore, so. You know. It’s good we have options. But based on the amount of complainering up in this piece, I wouldn’t go near an auto.

Depends on your commute, have had both and prefer auto in heavy traffic. Hate slipping the clutch, but if not commuting in traffic, definately the manual.

I grew up on 1st gen and 2nd gen 4runner manuals. My father received delivery of one of the first 1st gen runners from Guam. This was my first stick driving experiences when I was old enough to drive. Always wanted a manual taco and as soon as I could afford one, and with the wife’s permission, I pulled the trigger. No regrets. Especially with the new update! But this is all my personal preference.

Shopped around just for the manual, even had a dealer tell me i didn't want manual because traffic is so bad around us. I tried to remind him I was looking for the MT and that's why i was there.
He was also the only dealer in the local 50 mile radius who had one, and was getting rid of inventory for 16s to come in.

Manual. Especially if we are talking 3rd gen. Like it better than my MT or AT 2nd gen

MT FTW and get ACLB OFF-ROAD, or wait... you can't :canada:

But seriously, went from 2nd gen Auto to 3rd Manual, best decision in my life. :amen:

Always going to manual if I have the option.

It's fun to actually control the vehicle rather than use it like an appliance.

I'm not so sure, having both so many times, there is a lot to be said for an auto. Especially nowadays with being able to swap over to "tektronic" shifting. I'm kind of on the fence with this. My TJ was manual, I swore I would never go to auto, but now I'm not sure I would go back to manual.

The lag on the paddle shift is crap if your wheels touch dirt at all. Also going from 5th to 3rd is a pain. Just not a fan. My gf has a grand Cherokee set up like that and in "need to do something now" moments, those bigger gear boxes and paddle shift just don't cut it. 3 years driving it. Lots of seat time.

I agree with these bubbas. The wife dailies my AT truck and I daily my ‘94 Accord. I’d absolutely prefer an AT in city/traffic.

We live in an automatic world now and seeing as how people can barely drive when the car thinks for them, it’s hard to justify MT if you have somewhere to be.

My Accord has barely working A/C, the power of a cordless drill, and no tint... but I LOVE it on a Sunday morning with no traffic and kolaches in the front seat :D

I bought the MT not even caring what the AT worked like. It could have been rated the best AT in the world of trucks. I still would be MT. I don't think you're going to find a lot of MT folks wishing they had gone AT.

Got a manual and love it. I feel like MT’s will evenually be phased out for Tacomas, glad I got one while it’s still around!
