Can't deal with the harsh reality? Feel the need to mis-quote others to compensate for your insecurity?

MT crowd isn't really sure WHAT they're talking about. Still in initial shock period from owning their first 4wd....

Not everyone is into extreme off-roading. I can definitely see the benefit of the auto depending on how hardcore you want to get.

Maybe you all shouldn't have even bought the weak IFS Tacoma.... My Jeep friends claim their Solid Axle creates the far superior OFF-ROAD capabillity!!

Bought the 6MT. Love it. I looked and looked for a manual because I didn't want an Auto. Not because I'm better than anyone, but because I really enjoy the driving experience. My last vehicle was an AT and I regretted it the 9 years I owned it.

That being said, I have driven a buddy's '18 AT and thought it drove very well. Granted I only drove it about 10 miles but thought the shifting was fine. He has since gotten the TSB and said it's even better.

I concede that AT's are better at some things and MT's are better at others. For me, MT is the best decision.

Do I enjoy the fact that the three pedals are rarer and not everyone knows how to drive them? Yes. Do I think I'm better than others with an Auto or look down on them? No.

Glad we are all passionate about our trucks. 3rd Gen Tacomas get grief in general. It is the best vehicle I've ever owned and no one will be able to change my mind. Zero regrets.

The reason is 99% of all trucks are not taken off road, a lot more Jeeps are.

But we’re talking about a modern day Chrysler product. There’s a reason there’s so many aftermarket parts for Jeeps

I'm an MT fanboy through and through but the hard reality for me is that my fiancée has little experience off-road. I've gone so far to install a pretty robust radio setup with ham and CB and I'm teaching her how to use it because if something were to happen to me, we're probably not getting out unless it's basically fire roads. She's just not that comfortable with a stick over obstacles and I'm struggling to want to teach her how to wheel harder stuff in a brand new truck that is our only vehicle.

So yeah, me wanting to share my hobby with her to the fullest would trump my love for that third pedal. Wheeling is way more fun from the driver's seat.

    Men use manuals...
Seriously though, I have a MT and just enjoy the extra challenge of wheeling with it. I like being in control of as much as possible. Even so, Except for going downhill, ATs shine in most places. Would still by another MT though if they are available.

Only reason I got an automatic was because I wanted the long bed. Short beds are just too disproportionate and look like a hummer to me. Now if Toyota made manuals in long beds:spending:

Manual, because I've always wanted one. It's sad to see that by the time I'm going to my next one we probably won't have options. Audi discontinued all Manuals in 2019 models.

I have a DCLB Sport and they only came in automatics. Manuals only come in short beds or access cab unfortunately.

Manual for me. Even though it’s quirky every now and then I’d still much rather have a manual.

Even if I had no legs... I would just use two broomsticks to push the clutch and gas pedals before I would buy an AT.
