If you could do it over again, would you still have lifted your truck?

i have not lifted a tacoma but have lifted two other trucks in my much younger days. unless i was a serious off roader which i never was or will be, lifting a truck was a waste and i would not do it. stock 4x4 trucks from all manufacturers are more than capable for what i do.

All 4 of mine have had a subtle lift, under 2”. All have seen roads where a lift made maneuverability much, much easier. All saw over 200k miles with no issues aside from routine maintenance (minus one that was totaled by a drunk driver at 150k).

lifted yes done a few other mods related to performance and suspension would be a maybe. There is a point of reliability you cross and you cant go back (at least without buying a new truck or heavy fab work)

I didn’t lift it for looks, so absolutely. It’s nice to have an extra 2” of ground clearance to work with.

Yes. My truck still drives nice, better than stock. Weather I need it or not, having that extra two inches and more articulation gives me piece of mind when off road. If you do a lift right and don’t go too crazy with your mods you can still have a reliable daily driver that looks and performs better.

Edit: I will say I paid off my truck and waited for the warranty to expire before doing any more involved or expensive mods. Just seemed like the responsible thing to do.

Not trying to rain on your parade, but a 2” lift on Toyota IFS does not give you more articulation. If anything, you end up with more uptravel and less downtravel.

I had a 6 inch lift on a Silverado. Nosedive breaking. Long stops. Jump out. Driving better roads now and I need the sport in my Sport. I would not lift unless I actually needed it.

icon add a leaf, KD max tune,RSG sliders, Falken 33inch MT, eibach spring, arb front locking diff,ARB air compressor.baja designs squadron fog lights non dot comliiant.
any vehicle that's lifted more than i would say 2 inches will cause additional wear on components like cv boots. If your only concerned about the way it looks its not worth it for you just get a more aggressive tire or when your factory coilovers start to seep and need replacing upgrade they really are not much more expensive than factory and way better. i go camping almost every weekend and the truck sees alot of dirt the three tacomas i have owned have had zero issues with alignment and ride quality because i used quality parts and used a lift thats designed for function not looks blocks are pieces of garbage. the first truck was bilsteins and stock tires, the second was bilsteins with a 1.5 inch lift front and rear with a add a leaf in the rear. it originally had a block in the rear and rode like crap in the dirt. the 3rd truck is on 33s has a eibach spring front its a trd pro and a icon add a leaf pack in the rear no issues fully aligned

Hmmmm… I was under the impression that Bilstein 6112/5160’s gave you around an inch more travel which I thought would equate to better articulation. I may be off on this I guess. Either way stoked with my lift and would do it again.

Same, I love my 2” lift and would do it again.

With extended travel front shocks and 2” lift you get ~3” of downtravel and ~5.75 inches of uptravel.

Stock is ~4” uptravel and ~4” downtravel. I guess you could say there is more articulation, so you are not wrong there, but downtravel is preferred off-road.

    I’ll see myself out.:)
