    What's the situation? :D

    1. You wake up to the sound of glass breaking downstairs.
    2. You wake up to the sound of glass breaking in your child's room and your child screaming.

    AA12 wouldn't work too well for scenario #2. :D

alot of variables, is it your family at night in your house? or your family while out to eat at a restaurant? or are zombies attacking your family?

Its hard to pick 1 gun to do 'everything', when 'everything' is so open to discussion

For me its my xdm when im 'out and about' at the house my RR ar15 pulls guard duty

When the bad guy starts shooting back, .308 will allow you to shoot through cover to hit him.

Home protection, I'd take a shotgun because no kids so anyone I hit after I leave my bedroom shouldn't be there anyways. Plus, the sound of loading a shot gun is the international sound of GTFO!

My choice would be a handgun that I shoot frequenlty and that I am proficient with, know how to clear mailfunctions, kept clean and oiled with a tac light. Hope I never have to cross that bridge.
