Very true. Unfortunately most of us will chase that greener grass many times over before finally (if ever) figuring that out. Besides, if any place is perfect, it's never that way for long. You either end up with too many people, or a high cost of living. Which is exactly what has happened with much of Colorado.

:thumbsup:Wise words ... I've told that to many young airmen over the years...referencing bases of assignment. Taken to a higher level...Life is what you make of it.

But for the record...I love Alaska...but my second choice would be Great Smokey Mountains in Tennessee, Gatlinburg area...fond memories from my younger years.:)

Ultimately, if we decide to leave Alaska, it'll probably be somewhere convenient to visit grandkids...oldest son and his family moved to San Antonio, TX last November. :(

    S. FL. On top of being a different country, is also a different planet.
It is. I have spent a considerable amount of time on both, SD FTW.
This is so full of it, I can't even begin to explain. After 26 months of unemployment, I left Tampa for Denver. I LOVED Denver, still do. I was offered a "better" job in NOLA. Hated the job and the city in ways I can't describe. Tulsa is alright, certainly better than I expected for such a small town. The moral? You won't find out unless you try...

Austin is FULL of win, I can't believe I didn't mention it!

I dated a chick from Perth, Australia. Aussie woman are AMAZING! Better yet, since they have a higher % of women than men, Aussie dudes are DICKS to them. If you are good to them, they treat U like a KING!

Agreed. Golden for me txs, but even Langmont would work if it wasn't so far from civilization. Double win for Estes Park...
