It's a town full of a bunch of rich, spoiled, hippie, obnoxious Trust-Fund kids... :p. It's beautiful, but I can't stand the majority of the people there.

R U EFFING me? You could spit from Dawsonville (nice place BTW, I got friends in Blairsville, Young Harris and Toccoa) and go pass Clemson/Spartanburg! Again nice places, but that's a short drive from ya! What I mean is, if you like it so much over there, apply for jobs (plenty of them in Spartanburg), pack up your truck and MOVE!

    Good luck to ya!

That happens just about anywhere, so long as you don't go camping in one of those "towel head" countries...

In the states: Lower Keys but I doubt Key West.

Money be damned with plenty of it, Lucern (or close), Switzerland with a 2nd home in St. Croix, U.S.V.I.

I've traveled a lot and spent extended time in a lot of places. I have a sister and cousin that were born & raised in Germany & still live in the EU. There are +/- to every place I've been except the old eastern block countries...they suck.

In the end, I'll be happy to be planted in Oxford, Mississippi where I currently live.

Of course, those associated with the military (like yourself, those young airmen, & myself) have an advantage - the military pays for much of that extensive travel. However, the cost is never completely covered and I could have almost purchased a house with all the money personally spent on various moves over the years.

Regardless, even with that advantage, one could search a long time and many places before finding an ideal, and a significant number will never find it. For most others, searching for greener pastures can be a darn expensive, most often futile, effort. No place is perfect and few even live up to expectations.

Ultimately, after decades of travel (certainly worthwhile to a point), I ended up in a location very similar to where I started. I'm not moving anymore and will make the best of the current situation. After all, I do have considerable control over how this situation ends up.

Not so nice. There is a reason why I am not there anymore...
It's beautiful if you can stick to the nature areas, but any developed areas suck due to crime, terrible service etc.

It used to be the best place in the world when I grew up, until the new government took over and screwed it all up.
