I don't believe Ford has made a 5.0 engine in quite some time. Do you mean a 4.6?

He means a 5.0. Coming back (although totally different) in 2011. Going to be a mean car.

For me, probably an E46 M3.

Bmw's are pretty expensive to maintain though. : /

One of the perks to having a job that requires you to drive so much...all the mileage money covers that, and then some. And I don't think the newer ones are that much worse than anything else out there that would be in their class (Audi, Benz, etc).

I guess you're right. When you have all that money, it's better to have reliability. :)

Hence why I got a Tacoma. Better to actually get the money than have to put it in rear tires every 10-15k. :)

I have not personally, but know many people who have/do. Driven the M3 once, but the owner was the one who told me about the rear tires just being done after so few miles. But he had 60k on his, drove it daily, and SAID it had never been in the shop for more than oil changes, etc. I do think the maintenance is probably a little higher on them, but not sure that it's as much as most people think.

I think the maintenance costs really come in the higher-end 7 Series BMW's, Audi A8, S-Class Benz, etc. Heck, even a Lexus dealer I went to once to look at a GS300 (still one of my favorite cars) told me to stay away if you weren't prepared to drop a bunch of money...all of the fancy electronic stuff starts going out on them.

Well my gf has a 323i (e46) and it's got a couple minor issues. But it rides smooth.

Ewwww never buy BMW. My dad has an 02 M5 and everytime after that maintenance free crap it is like 1000 dollars everytime we bring it in for rountine stuff. Plus it needs tires ever 10-13k miles!!!

Well I love it because I get to drive it and not have to pay for it! 

I drove Ford trucks all of my life, until I bought my Tacoma in 2006. I traded a 2001 Ranger in when I bought it.

The best truck I ever had was a 1981 Ford F100 with a straight 6. Best engine ever made, which is why they stopped.

My next truck? So far the Toyota is not any better than the Ford Ranger, but at the time it cost about $2500 more than the Ranger.

The next truck will be determined on how well this Tacoma does, which now has 82,000 miles. If I can get it to 150,000 without major issues, whether I buy another will be determined on who has the best price, Ford or Toyota.

Right now, I'd probably go back to Ford.

Also, I'm a little pissed at the way the Toyota dealers have treated me.

Hell of a lot of difference between a 3 series (or even M3) and an M5. Any $80,000 car is going to be expensive to maintain.

Was this the 300ci inline 6? I had this motor in my '90 F-150. Damn thing wouldn't break, and towed my 7000 lbs of trailer like it wasn't there. GREAT motor.

Well I didn't really see you were talking about an M3. On a side note in Nocal they mark the m3 around 20 because they can. After the mark up and being fully loaded you can expect to pay around 65 to 75k.

My buddy has an 04 m3 and it is the same thing as the M5 but is around 700-1000 depending on what needs to be done

That's insane. Way different than what I've been told. Wonder if the geography has something to do with it...Norcal vs. Midwest.
