Holy Sh*t that is terrible! We've been pretty lucky in NJ this summer so far, hasn't been too bad. That's great brother, congratulations :oldglory:!! Heading back to Chicago with Fam or starting over in another state?

On a side note, I saw that you had quite a few tacos over the years, how do you think the paint stacks up from the 2nd to the 3rd gen? I've had 2 2nd gens and this is my only 3rd so far. I feel like the paint on the 2nd gens were a bit better, however I do have black and it is very easy to see every little scratch/swirl/watermark and so on.

Actually had to trade my 2nd Gen Access Cab in because i needed room for a car seat, and a second seat within a week, so i understand the time restraints. Have a few mods ready to be installed but just havent had the time. I live right by Good Sports. I actually play ice at Winding River over the past few years.

Originally thought I wanted a Quicksand as I love how they look from the outside, but decided I didn't like how the exterior jived with the interior color. Didn't have a particular 2nd choice at the time, ended up with BBP and I'm happy with it. I'm surprised how many random compliments I get on the truck.

If I had a second choice now to what I have, I think I'd go with Cement... I still really like the look of the non-metallic paints.

I completely understand that, it would be a struggle with an AC and two kiddos. Yeah a couple weeks ago I was able to knock out some of my mod pile (Meso Puddle Pods/Grille Lights/Clazzios), still have one remaining in the pile (Pop and lock kit by KTJO 4x4) for the time being. What a small world, that's cool! Yes, I used to play for the Toms River Blackhawks at Winding River back in the day.

Thanks man! Yep headed back to the chicago burbs for 2nd degree nursing program.

Lol, ya I've had a small problem keeping one. But I don't think its in your imagination the paint is thinner. I also think its certain colors too. For instance my Cement was chipping like crazy in the first month of ownership, MGM too, oddly my 2 super white 3rd gens have been doing really well in comparision being a single stage paint, that and white is good at hiding imprefections. Have you thought about Ceramic Coating your black 17? I ceramic coated my 16 that was black because of that reason you mentioned and helped a ton cutting down on time spent keeping it up. I will admit nothing beats a clean black 3rd gen, the color just does the body lines so much justice. If you decide to go the ceramic route, here is the dude I used in Jersey, does really high end work.

Good for you man, I wish you the best of luck! LOL, I know the feeling, I get bored easy of things, that's why I keep getting lots of mods hahaha. Yes that does make a lot of sense in regards to the single stage paint. You know I have seen people post things about it now and then but haven't done any heavy reading on it, I think I will start reading up. Is this something you can do by yourself or is it best to have done by a Pro? Yeah for sure, a freshly cleaned black is beautiful! Thank you, I appreciate the link, I'll check it out and do some research.

My previous truck was kind of a darkish gray color that I thought looked really good. The issue is that it showed dirt, salt, etc very easily.

I had a thing for red trucks ever since I used to pass a darkish red truck every day on my way to work and thought what a good looking truck it was.

So got the Barcelona Red for the Tacoma this time around. Looking at it more, it's a bit lighter than I expected. And it turns out that it shows dirt, salt and everything as well.

So the next time around I think I'll look to get a white truck/vehicle more. In my previous neighborhood there were a lot of contractor and work trucks that were white. So was a reason why I didn't consider it that much at that time. But kind of like the looks of the white color on some trucks, especially with black accents, and I think it's supposed to hide dirt and stuff better and easier to keep looking clean.

Ceramic coatings can be done yourself if you are comfortable with paint correction and have a place for the truck to cure for 24-48 hours.

Before applying the coating you basically want the paint in its best condition since your basically locking how it looks in, hence the paint correction which is why many will go with a detailer/professional. You then apply the coating and let it cure, can’t get wet, etc. depending on the coating and layers anywhere from a day or so. If your comfortable with polishing and correcting along with sealing / waxing it’s really not much different and you’ll save a ton doing it yourself. For me I didn’t have the garage space to let it cure and I like with Ceramic Pro you get a warranty and it is linked to the VIN / Carfax so I went with a detailer. If you plan on keeping the truck longterm I think it’s worth it. Acts like an additional clearcoat and makes washing / maintaining a breeze.

Have Quicksand, Cement would be a distant second choice but only would have made that choice if QS had never been an option.

The veterans LOVE the QS. I was concerned it'd make my truck harder to find if I was hiking back to it in the eastern sierras ahahahah

Thank you for the information, it seems like a great investment, especially for black.

I have Cement now but I really like the silver. That may have been my first choice if they had a manual in stock at the time.

No prob man if I had black and didn’t trade trucks as much as I do I’d definitely invest in it.

Yeah I def plan on keeping this one for a while. I love this truck so much, and I’ve spent a good chunk of coin on mods. Maybe not as much as some, but a good amount. When I put the clazzios in it made it feel new again too lol. I’m going to get the ceramic coat for sure.

Just got my 19 in cement. White/Cavalry Blue was a second choice. Woulda been Voodoo Blue for sure but not upgrading to the Pro for it. I work at a Toyota plant, we build the Camry but don’t see many in Cement.
Got the MT, dealer had to go to Cleveland from Kentucky to find it

My first choice was Cement but in the end, I'm very happy with my Blazin' Blue. I thought about wrapping the truck in the future in the Kryptek Typhoon Camo but not sure.

    Like, so many.
Cement, for sure. If that color had been available when I got my truck, I definitely would have gotten at it.
