It’s a parking brake. Meant to take the tension off the pawl pin.

The 4R’s have a manual transfer case option but no manual transmission option. Still a foot operated parking brake. I like the sound of the 8-12 clicks as it engages. It’s habit now, I set it every time I park.

In my case, left foot to the floor.
    Agreed.

Hopefully they aren’t in AWD cars when they try.
    P-Ridge Farms does.

And this is why I love the antiquated tech of the 4R. I do what I want to it and don’t need a laptop or scan tool to do basic maintenance.

My foot brake is a parking brake and I’m in an auto (sadly) so all it’s used for is parking.

I think I’m starting to like you. Barely.

Shit, I thought that was a feature of early dodge Dakota trucks.

It’s a sad state of affairs when we have to make cars account for human error.

Care to elaborate. My Passat has electronic parking brake and I’ve always wondered what would happen....

    Electronic parking brakes suck BTW.

I had a Civic prior to my truck. Luckily I was still in our neighborhood only going around 20 mph. But he had reached up and pulled it from the backseat, locking the rear wheels. Needless to say, his dad had a good talk with him afterwards

    That's my boy right there!

The center grab parking brake was one of the biggest reasons I went a 3rd gen over the 2nd gen.

    And those damn fenders....
