TNGA Yaris if it ever comes to the states. If not, probably a Corolla.

127k miles on the taco, so it's getting to be time for a commuter car again.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot, OP. Since i live in the desert i drive very long distance all the time, im putting a shitton of miles on my new taco (double the average). Been thinking of leasing a prius as a commuter, no bullshit....
    53 mpg highway....

Not considering my wife’s 4Runner, 1st Gen Tacoma or a 200 series Land Cruiser, maybe a Lexus LS.

Always known boats were terrible but considering you haul so many, is it really that bad?

How much fuel to make a 1000 mile trip, incl. take-off/land?

There are plenty of used ones out there for pretty cheap.

When I was young, I wanted a two seat British sports car.
Basically the same thing but reliable.

Maybe I'll start looking seriously this coming Spring.
I figure I'll sell my Kawasaki Vulcan then.
It's getting scary any more to ride a bike out there with all the idiot drivers.
And my reflexes aren't what they used to be.

I'd recommend buying a 7-10yr old one, they're nearly abuse-proof and depreciate more than most people think.
Mine is the only car I've ever owned that I truly don't care about, requires very minimal maintenance, and 55+mpg.

If I could afford it, X5M. I drove one for a couple hours. OMG it was nice and so fast. Ties the M3 on the track.

Westchester, NY to West Palm is a pretty common flight we do with my airplane and thats a little over 1000 mi.

We use pound when dealing with fuel vs gallons which makes calculating the aircraft’s weight easier but that flight burns about 14,500 lbs. Jet A weighs about 6.8 lbs per gallon. So 2140 gallons roughly for that flight. It will vary on the wind, altitude, and the load on board but that’s a rough idea.

Also can vary if it’s the go home leg of the trip. If we’re going home there’s a tendency to burn more since it’s usually firewalled. :burnrubber:

That is pretty bad if not splitting the bill between 100 people. I've always wondered how they stay in business. I know margins are slight.

On topic. Mini-van. You know, they suck fuel too when you drive them hard. Both my Sienna and Odyssey average 16-17 and just like a jet, usually worse going home than to work.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
2020 Land Cruiser. Or a BMW M5 (a real one, with the V8). Or a 1967 Galaxie 500 convertible. Or a McLaren P1. Yeah, I could write an extremely long list of what should be sitting in the garage next to the Taco, but it will really just be a 3 or 4 year old 4Runner to replace the Escape when it finally dies.

Picture from summer time when I traded my last ‘other car’ in for a new ‘other car’. At times part of me wishes I went with something 2dr and rwd, maybe next time.
