Knowing all the pro's and con's of lifting a Taco, Would you decide not to? Or would you do it again or choose a different lift height or manufacturer?

I would think the people that are capable and understand exactly what needs to be done and how to do it are fine. The rest of us needs to hire them or leave it alone.

I personally would never lift my truck simply because I think resale value gets diminished, potential for problems and I don’t need a lifted truck. I’m more for upgrading shocks and coils but keep the height the same.

Hell yeah I'd do it again. If you know what you are doing and do it right there is nothing wrong with lifting. Knowledge is key to suspension geometry. Plus it just looks bad ass. 20170722_001558.jpg

I do like how they look over stock.

The last non solid suspension I lifted was a Durango, I spent a lot of time doing it right from finding a kit that replaced the entire steering knuckle assemblies to ensure all the steering points and such were still level to playing around with adding leaves in the rear to get both the height and ride quality right while still giving excellent flex. In the end I was pretty happy but I don't see too many Taco lefts that change geometry specs to ensure OEM factory steering geometry and if they do [pig drops] they seem to bring other factors into play.

2 inch lifts seem to be about it before I read a lot of threads about issues with daily drivers. [unless there are a LOT of changes and $$$ spent to correct it] Am I wrong about that? I never had an issues with keeping alignment correct but the Tacoma seems to be pretty flimsy in the area once bigger tires are added to the lift along with spacers if the rims need to be moved out a bit.

I'd maybe keep a TRD OR stock but no way in hell for the other trims. With any purchase, buy nice or buy twice. My 3.5" lifted, sway bar removed taco on 33's is a smooth ride IMO

Stock but with a Warn 10s winch Used to be a lightly modded Tacoma
For sure I would, stock tacos look so loooww. Their design proportions really come to light from even the smallest lift, IMHO. I lifted mine ~2” with a TRD Pro suspension so in a way it’s stock except for the ICON progressive AAL in the rear to make it level. No vibes, lots of high speed drive ability - the lift altered nothing in terms of its performance except a little more ground clearance off road. If anything my lift added to the value of the truck. 2nd Gen pros were never available in Canada so the only way to get one is to do what I did. It was well worth the cost and trouble and I would never own a stock Tacoma as long as I could buy a TRD Pro kit for it.

7.5 years later and I'm very happy with mine. I wasn't looking for anything extreme, so I just went with taller tires and a Toytec 2" lift. It looks pretty stock, but I get a lot of comments that "it looks bigger and better than my Tacoma" from bone stock owners. It just adds a nice stance and the ride is really nice. I don't do any real rock crawling or "wheeling". Mostly just access to hunting lands on old logging roads and such.
So yes, I would do the same over again.

I mean I do absolutely zero wheeling with mine, so I guess If I wheeled maybe problems would arise.
