My truck has 11,000 miles on it right now and I noticed after I came back from a long road trip last month that my leaf springs started to squeak and squeal every time they would get compressed. The truck is completely stock and has been since it left the factory. they are relatively clean. I have tried looking for someone else on the forum's with a similar issue but no dice. I don't know really what to do to remedy this problem and I don't want to have to go to my local Dealership for them to try and fix the issue. Posting this to get some feedback and provide anyone with the same issue some insight, I can't be the only one right:fingerscrossed:. Thanks TW!

Update: I am going to give my local Toyota dealership a call and see when/if I can come in to get the TSB done. I did order fluid film, but I would rather have the TSB done for a more permanent fix. Thank you to everyone who was able to provide me info and insight on what and how to fix this!

TSB May or may not fix this. Fluid film on the contact pads, leaves, bushings, and shackles has kept mine quiet for months. Degrease and pressure wash before applying. Stuff stinks horribly, but works great and prevents rust/corrosion.

I was looking and it seems that the TSB is only for 16/17’s and I’m an 18’ so I’ll just try out the fluid film

Just a tip because I did this the first time: There is no need to removed the wheel.

Just jack the frame in front of the front leaf bolt as high as you can. Then the ends of the leaves can be easily separated with a screwdriver or pry bar. Takes less than 10min to do both sides.

I had this issue with my 2018 after the first month that I bought it. I brought it back to the dealership and told them what my issue was and they just did the tsb that was on the 2016/17 models and it fixed it for me. Didn’t cost a dime. I’d say give your dealer a shot before you mess with the leafs yourself....

Ive had extremely good luck with a good power washing and then liberal application of WD40 brand professional series gel lubricant. Have someone stand in the bed and bounce the suspension while you spray the leafs down. Its been over a year since I have done mine without issue.

Shouldn’t have to do that to your suspension though when Toyota screwed up in there suspension... make more work for them not yourself... plus then it’s also documented for the 2018s!

I consider it maintenance. Also its easier for me to crawl under the truck with a spray can than to spend 4+ hours at the dealership arguing with some special tard of a service advisor.

All depends on the tard haha some are wonderful and others not so much... but it is a permanent fix for the issue...

Ive tried every Dallas/Ft Worth dealership within reasonable distance of me. They have my truck for a minimum of four hours no matter what they are doing to it. I also have to fight with a GM every time I need a loaner if they decide they cant fix it that day.

Pfft! I even like my dealer and they seem to have done good service work under ToyotaCare, but after the next tire rotation, it's all me. Scheduling appointments and waiting around takes twice the time as it does at home. The fact that it is free is the only compelling reason for my cheap ass.

I have the same opinion about motorcycle tires. No use getting bent over for a mount and balance when most of the effort is just pulling the wheels. I'm half considering doing my out tire swap on the Taco.

I work at a dealership, just not Toyota. So anything that doesnt HAVE to be done by a Toyota tech gets done at my work or in my driveway.

You can buy the Friction pads and install in less than an hour per side and run roughly 50$. Ditch them all together and go Dakar or Deaver, no squeaks and increased load handling.
