    Update:
My son Brian, who's 23, has been in the hospital now for over a week. He had been on a Multiple Sclerosis treatment called Tysabri for over 3 years. Tysabri is the strongest and most aggressive treatment there is available. As with many treatments, there are potential dangerous side affects. Tysabri is one that can break down the "Blood/Brain" barrier and allow virus and bacteria that many of us carry in our bodies to enter the brain. Tysabri is also an immunosuppressant, meaning that it lowers your immune system, much like chemotherapy. Through blood, spinal fluid, MRI, and other tests, they have narrowed it down to the fact that he either has progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), or Primary Central Nervous System (CNS) Lymphoma. PML is caused by a virus that about 80% of the world's population carries in their body. It is the virus that causes warts. PML is caused by the JC virus infiltrating the blood/brain barrier and causing large lesions in the brain. CNS Lymphoma also infiltrates the brain in the same fashion and can cause tumors in the brain. From the imagery and fluid tests, the diagnosis is PML. To date there have been 35 deaths from PML related to the use of Tysabri (out of a few hundred thousand treated). There are only experimental treatments available, and his medical team is pursuing those. We don't know yet what the outcome will be, but are praying for the best.

I thank you all for your prayers and support! You have made it a little easier for me knowing that he is receiving positive energy from all of you.
From the bottom of my heart, Thank you!
    Mark
