Typically, with the year model autos that were under filled, it isn't the draining making the difference. It is filling it to the proper level.

What is easy check that would be, if they had a dipstick.

My old vs new at 97k. Didn't actually notice a difference but I think the level was correct to start.

Id be all over that. How about an oil dip stick mod that actually reads an acurate oil level?

Trust me...the thought has crossed my mind. I'm not sure the profit from sales would be worth the liability when someone accidentally installs the mod and runs their transmission dry of fluid. :D

Jesus Christ people still don't belive these transmissions were low from the factory? This is a pretty well known and documented issue.

I'll raise you an oil pressure light that comes on before engine damage is done. Lol.

I know in the old days, Ford C6, that just a little bit of extra fluid would make them shift firmer. Not sure about these newer electronic trannys

It's not that I didn't believe it, I was surprised by the positive affect that resulted from filling it to the right level. Make sense?

I sanded mine with some emery cloth, and it reads accurately if you quickly flip it on its back side and hold it in the light correctly. Sheesh.

Took me a while to find the explanation when we had issues with the 2nd gen truck but here it is
The reason for no dipstick is that the car builders want you to believe that you don’t need to check or maintain the fluid. Many of them actually say that the fluid they use is good for the life of the vehicle. This ofcourse is simply not true
This was the explanation Toyota used when they started installing the 5 speed automatics without a dipstick in the tundras and Tacomas . I am sure someone will eventually find the same information for the 2016 model AC60 transmission

Page 18 of this PDF explains this http://www.toyotatundraforum.com/pdf/A750E.pdf
They say the overflow plug is more accurate . I think I could probably have a good argument with Toyota about this . At least with a fill tube , it gets checked on a regular basis

Here is the research that Old School took the time out to look into

I think I found the dipstick solution!
    From the FJ forum:

    http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/foru...n-aids/142540-dipstick-a750-series-trans.html

Re: Dipstick for A750 series trans?
    Here's a picture of a 4Runner Pan:

    53137d1329183507-dipstick-a750-series-tr_1f68d833a2eb664a033ea9cc58cff13847688da4.jpg

You would need to get the dipstick tube which inserts into the stub in the pan and the dipstick itself. The pan would be easy to buy from a parts supplier like Slauson transmission parts in LA and the dipstick and tube can be bought from Toyota parts. You could buy the pan new too but it would be expensive and you would just be cutting it up anyway so just get a used one.

Good ideas and info, along the lines of what I was considering.... but it looks like Toyota beat us to it. For one or two years, the 2003 Land Cruiser came with the A750F.... and a dipstick! In 04 Toyota went to the WS fluid and no dipstick. So we might have a bolt in solution for about $150.

Looks like the older model pans do fit!

I have almost 240000 miles on my truck, It runs perfect, no shifting issues. I was looking into a drain and fill of the fluid in the pan rather than a flush. Then I read gearcruncher's post recommending dropping the pan, changing the filter, and cleaning the magnets. It sounded like really good advice for a high mileage vehicle.
I purchased 4 quarts of Toyota WS transmission fluid, a new filter, and a 4 liter paint mixing bucket with graduated marks on the side so I could measure exactly how much fluid I drained out.
I drained about 3 quarts out of the pan, then removed all but one bolt from the front of the pan, lowered the back of the pan and about another quart drained out.
I removed the pan, cleaned the 4 magnets, which were slightly dirty, cleaning them turned about half a shop towel black. The fluid I drained was a darker red than the new fluid, but did not look too bad, and did not smell much different than the new fluid.
Popped in the new filter, reinstalled the pan, added 4 quarts of fluid (since that is what I took out)
The truck does not drive or shift any differently then it did before the change.

The whole thing took about a two hours, but I also drained and changed my antifreeze at the same time.

    Good stuff @gearcruncher

"Lifetime fill" = some statistical information that says most people will get a new vehicle by 100k. Then Toyota forgot the human element: people make mistakes.

Also, think how much money they save on those little dipsticks, across all of the vehicles which use the A750. $.

When common sense looses out to business sense.
