what toyota should have done is make the ECT mode adjustable, meaning be able to program the shift points by shifting thru all the gears where you want them to shift, while in shift mode, then just a enter save and the shift points are saved.

I'll have to Gen I Tundra fap again. I thought maybe I'd trade the '05 Tundra for a 2016 Tacoma. No way.

1.5 inches less ground clearance, sixty less torque, no power driver seat, ridiculous jump seats in the Access Cab, no power rear slider, still has that ridiculous crossover exhaust.

The cabin is no quieter, buzzy V6 instead of the 4.7 V8, 4.7 gets 19 mpg max, 13 low, that's not a big deal. 4.7 has 320 torque, that's a big deal.

If I had 300,000 miles on the Tundra maybe I'd downgrade but at 130,000 miles with a better towing truck, more payload, real rear seat in the Access Cab, etc, I'll stay with the Tundra. Kind of pathetic the 2016 Tacoma can't match the 17 year old Gen I Tundra design.

and then it's Toyota's fault when your truck blows up after you 'set' the truck to shift at 6000 RPM in every gear

Wow, this thread just died 2 months ago. I have a definite answer to the question now - I would not have accepted my truck without the dealer checking and adjusting the transmission fluid. Multiple other threads are discussing the problem with under-filled transmissions on V6 auto trans trucks. Checked mine today myself and found it 3/4 quart low.
