As much as it sucks to see this happen, I've gotta ask ya what that cargo net in the bed is– I'm looking for something like that

The curse of the trail limo strikes again! I did the same thing on Rocky Gap in Vegas.... If you haven't bought a set of sliders yet go check out White Knuckle Offroad. They're in Apple Valley about an hour from cleghorn. They're working on putting together a set for my DCLB right now. They should have the jig ready to make more in a couple weeks. Great guys to work with and their price point is among the best.

    They call it "The Chute".

Definitely painful but it could have been worse. I've seen posts about their doors getting pushed in.

Also I saw a post on a Jeep tipping over in another part of the trail.

You definitely have the cajones to go for it. Lesson learned.

I had a nice foot-long dent/scratch on my rear passenger door from taking the same chance you did. I should have bought sliders before learning the hard way as well.

Yep, been there, done that. Sliders are one of the best first mods.

A prime example of people hating rocks and leaving scrape and paint marks on them. What has that poor rock done to you?
Somebody should come up with a truck slider mod to install on rocks...:)

Pretty much did the same thing when my junk was brand new and without sliders back in the summer of 2008 on The Miller Jeep Trail, my damage was much worse. I couldn't open the rear passenger door from the outside. Had to kick and force the door open from the inside. Used a piece of 2x4 and a BFH to pound the door seal back into submission.

Kudos for it not being a poser shot. I saw that first picture on here the other day perched above the rocks and thought "Ya right, take a poser pic for the internet and back up". Can't believe you actually went for it. Awesome for treating it as a learning experience and not getting pissy.

I would be super pissed that your spotter is that much of an idiot that he told you to go for it. How could he not know what was coming? I showed my 16 year old daughter your video as a learning tool and even at 16 with no off road driving experience she said "he's not going to make that".

Edit: I should admit that I have done similar damage to past vehicles by trying to do similar things without a spotter. Don't sit in that seat and think you are so good you couldn't use another set of eyes. Sliders were my my first mod this time.

It was his first time but like your daughter and my wife said, it only takes common sense to see that I was fucked. For what it’s worth, I could’ve made this without damage had I known I needed to be a few inches more driver side before going forward. When he was going to inform me of that, the rocks under the tire shifted and then this happened.
