insta@_yotajoe : 5100s / spc uca, 34' cooper mts, allpro sliders/skids. sherpa roof rack. agency6 goodies, BAMF hybrid front bumper, BD lights/Hella spots.
What full size pickup would you get if you were to sell your Tacoma?

Just went on a trip with the wife and my two year old to Mammoth-Yosemite-Sequoia. I have a softopper and sherpa rack/roam boxes. I was loaded completely full. The allpro full leaf pack and duro bumps worked like a charm I must say. With more kids on the way the small truck just isn't going to work.IMG-0782.jpg IMG-0955.jpg IMG-0954.jpg

Unless toyota comes out with a pickup the size of their gen1 tundra again having a bed width of 4' between the wheel wells, i'm not the least bit interested in a bigger truck.

Yea, none. I don't want a bigger truck. There hasn't been a single time in the 3 years of owning my truck that I wished I bought a bigger one.

If I got another truck it would be a diesel dually flat bed with a 5th wheel and it would be a tow pig toy hauler and work truck.

Don't really care what flavor so long as it wasn't a Dodge.

Might do a Tundra if they ever made a turbo diesel in this country but that's never going to happen.

I'd mainly use it to haul the Tacoma though.

I saw a commercial the other day with the new Tundra pulling a gooseneck. It wasn't that big of a load though and I'm sure the gas mileage was awful :D

I don't doubt it in the slightest, any bigger a load and the turbo's would pop too from what I've heard.

Tin foil hat time but it's almost like manufacturers are trying to make ICE vehicles so trash that people will flock to EV's more willingly.

F350 for long distance travel, and keep the Taco for running around town.

If I sold my Tacoma, I’d probably get another one but with a long bed instead.

I've used F350s for work and they are tanks, my uncle is a logger and he loves Tacomas, but his fleet is exclusively F350s and I gotta say I'd be tempted to get one of those if I needed a bigger truck.

Couple of my buddies have them, funny we were just camping together last week, had to run into town, asked if we could take my Tacoma because it rides better. Those things sure do ride like a brick unless you toss a Carli system or the like on them.

I drove a crew cab long bed F350 for the last fourteen years as a daily driver in metro Seattle traffic. Had a new one been available without a 6-9 month wait and a reasonable price I'd have bought another. However, due to a series of unfortunate interactions with a local dealership and my circumstances not warranting the necessity of a 1-ton truck I decided to take a look at Toyota. Things just kind of lined up and I thought what the hell, I'd try something different. The Tacoma is comfortable, the dealer was respectful of my time and presented me with a deal that made sense. I miss the space of the F350 at times, and I know there are going to be situations that arise where I will miss the long bed, but the kids are grown and the dogs don't care what rig they are in.

If I were simply looking for more space as you are, I'd look at either of the Ford, Chevy/GMC or Tundra options as I think they all make decent rigs. I have a pretty substantial position in Ford stock, which has finally started paying a dividend again. I probably should have vacated it at this last peak...but hindsite is 20/20. I like the ergonomics of the Ford the best, The GMC is also very nice, with respect to the front seat and driver amenities. The Tundra was off the table for me as my experiences with first model year powertrains has been sketchy over the years, but I like the way they were laid out and will probably buy one at some point if the Tacoma becomes too small. Dodge has a decent powertrain, but to me they are just fugly and the local Dodge dealer has some service department issues.

So far I am incredibly happy with my Tacoma and hope it gives me a long life, but it is much smaller than what I've been used to so I sure understand how a guy with a family and some gear could quickly outgrow it.

    A 350/450 drives great with a 40' 5th wheel attached to it.... :)

Lets be honest here... they just are sick of 9-12 mpg diesel at 6$ a gallon and they stroked your ego a bit..... lol

Oh yeah, my buddy has 40’ 5th wheel too. We were tent camping this last trip. That pic of the slide-in is about as big as I want to go, since I like going somewhat off grid. Mainly solo camp, those are always focused around dirt biking, can get a little tight in the taco with all the extra gear I bring.

Full size trucks are extremely useful...if you need one. I don't, at least not very often and can borrow or rent when I do.

If no Tacoma? The only other mid size would be the Nissan, but...nah. I'd buy a 4Runner and something like this:

That slide in is sharp. I towed a 22' Hewes behind my F350 with a 9' Arctic Fox in the bed. Really needed a dually as it could get spooky at times. These days my Tacoma will be used to pull a small trailer with my side by sides... not sure how I am going to feel about dry sand camping as I've been spoiled for a long time... but times change. Smaller definately opens up a a lot more options. There is not a perfect setup, I have learned that for sure.

In my younger years I spent a lot of time Windsurfing the Oregon coast and the CR Gorge, I would have killed to have some of the RTT options that are available now. So many new things on the market.

GX, LX or 4runner plus a trailer. I sold my Taco and landed on an LX470. Once my second kid came along, Tacoma was too small interior wise. The LX is a beast on and off road.
