    New or used?

New, none of them except maybe the Ram with the Pentastar 3.6L V6 or the Ford F150 with the normally aspirated 3.3L V6 would even be considered. Both, I would think just don't make the power needed for serious off roading. Trail riding they probably would do ok though don't expect the Ford to pull a house off a foundation. I hear the Pentastar can go up to 11,000 lbs towing but have no direct knowledge of same.

Used, Tundra 2021 or older. If you're going back 2014 or earlier, F150 with the Triton 5.4 V8 with the 3 valves per cylinder (V3 designation), Titian between 2015 and 2008.5, and probably most any pre-2009 except Titan.

My mentality is a little different. Whenever my shit gets to be too big for my car, I figure out how to haul less shit.

Love being able to get into tight spots with the Tacoma. Yeah no perfect setup, since I live in Idaho everything is basically right out the front door…lots of day trips, only do week long camp trips maybe 3 times a year, can’t justify a big camper right now. Retiring in a few years so of course I am currently looking at everything.

How do rear facing car seats do in the LX470? Tacoma isn’t cutting it. I’m considering a 100 series Land Cruiser for us now that we’ve got two short roommates

That is basically what I do, bike on the trailer. Cot in the bed. Staying in a spot longer than three days I bring my EZ-UP. Do find the ez a pain in the ass. May up grade to 5X10 enclosed trailer, with a 270° batwing awning. Of course all my other stuff is paid for and works perfectly fine.

They do great IMO. My kids are 2 and 3 now so use forward facing seats at this point. The second row of the 100 series actually reclines back so you can create a little more leg room for them. The interior width and height is substantially larger. 2nd row could hold 4 adults side by side.

So, I just went through this. It was kind of gut wrenching but I replaced my 2018 Tacoma V6 TRD Off Road 6MT double cab w/a 2021 F-150 XLT 5.0l V8 Super Crew. I can't explain it, I just really wanted a full size truck. I found myself frustrated at times with my Tacoma plus my teenage son is 6 ft. tall and he didn't really fit in the back so it was kinda reduced to being a 2 seater and that kinda bothered me as well. I would say about 3-4 months into ownership of my Tacoma I felt like it was 3/4 of what I wanted, not what I needed, what I wanted. It was pretty stupid on my part but I could never shake the feeling of never being fully satisfied w/my Tacoma and the dumbest thing I did was go and test drive full size trucks. I test drove the Denali/Silverado (I really like the new Denali), the RAM 1500, Tundra and F-150. To me, the F-150 felt just right for me. Again, 100% want, not need in my particular case. The thing of it is, for me, life is short. If you're unhappy, just bandaid rip it and keep moving forward. Logically, it makes no sense at all, but I'm happy now, I feel fully satisfied now.

Spent many night contemplating this as my kids are growing like weeds. But I think I am equally likely to keep the kitted Taco in the fam and add another Taco and run Super Pacific or Alu-Cab set ups on them both and caravan or get a PCOR trailer or similar rather than go full sized.

I think putting daughter as driver of Taco 2 at 16th bday gives us more overall space/comfort rather than packing us all into a single full sized rig all while keeping our on-trail footprint tiny by comparison. Not to mention the recovery advantages. Seen so many full sized bro dozers struggling in Moab and here in CO. I dont want to do those shelf road switch back 3 point turns. Fuck that!!!

So I think the Taco is in the fam for good. Plus my 8 year old already made me promise to bequeath it to him lol. The kid knows whats up.

Since OP's question is specific on what full size truck I would get in lieu of my Taco, no doubt I would go with the F-150. Not a big fan of Ford Motor Company products in general, but they do make a damn good full size pickup.

    Yikes!

Lol you people… OP is asking for what full size truck, not SUVs, fuggin mini vans or rickshaws.

I’d get a Silverado because the gasser V8 5.3 or 6.2 are excellent motors, and interior/exterior design are light years ahead of Toyota

If I needed a full size, Ford F-150 with a 5.0 would be my pick.

Is that still an option on the new ones?
