Hey everyone just joined TacomaWorld and will be purchasing a truck later this year 2019 possibly a 2020. Any advice on either the 2019 or 2020 off-road version? Not too sure the big difference between them other than the panoramic view top and bottom. Any pointers would be great. Thanks and looking forward to joining the Tacoma Life.

2020 if you want car play and subtle refresh, 2019 if you want a discount.

Check which colors are available for each year. Some colors end up being available only certain years, so if you really want one of those just confirm what all is available for the years you’re looking at.

If I had known they were coming out with power seats I honestly would have waited a year.
Love my tacoma but the stock seats are TRASH.

I'd wait as well... if you're buying new might as well get the latest and greatest. 2020 comes with new headlights, new grill, new head unit, surround Camara, terrain Camara, power seat, that may be all, but worth waiting imo.

    ^^^ this!

First-time Tacoma owner here as well. I like the truck but those damn seats are tough to love; they are barely bearable.

If the promised power seat on the 2020 is better, I may be trading in my 2019 sooner than I was anticipating.

Power drivers seat, LED headlights and car play. They won’t come free so decide if those are worth paying for. If yes wait for a 2020 and if not buy a 2019.

Just picked up my 2019 Thursday. Ordered back in January. 300 miles so far and loving every minute of it. If you can wait I would. Assuming prices being the same anyways. Only thing I've done to mine was new speakers and a sub. Not sure about the JBL system but the non premium speakers aren't worth squat. I'm coming from an 09 370z so the seats aren't that bad to me.

Well Nissan is not known for its comfortable seats either LOL

The seat in my tiny Fiat 124 Spider, with fewer adjustments, is more comfortable than that in my Tacoma with Premium Package.

Don't know why you guys are hating on the seats. They fit me perfectly. In fact, that's the first thing I notice when I get in a vehicle for a test ride--if the seat doesn't feel good right away, I wouldn't buy it.

You would have to decide if the extras are worth the $2-3000 more you'll spend to get the newer model. It wouldn't be worth it for me.

I have had 11 Toyota trucks since 1977 and the seats in all of them were fine. I think individual physiology (I’m 5’ 10") has a great deal to do with how comfortable the seats are. I bet we even hear complaints about the power seats being lousy.

Do you know what changes are in store for the head unit other than Apple car play and Android whatever?

I just traded my 2016 for a 2019. The only way I would be disappointed is if Toyota hugely improved on the engine/transmission performance. I do feel there is a noticeable improvement in my 2019 over my 2016 engine/transmission performance (I had all the tsb’s applied to my 2016). I loved my 2016 and am delighted with my 2019.

I traded my 2011 DCSB Sport for a 2019 DCLBOR back in January. The 2020 was announced in February and I had buyers remorse. I know 2019 OR doesn't come with a driver side bin in the bed like all the previous Tacomas did, the 2020 Tacoma will bring back this bin. The other main changes would be LED headlights for the TRD models, power adjustable seats, carplay and the 360cam. Keep in mind that the 2020 Tacoma would also cost more due to all these changes. I am happy with my 2019 and dont think i would trade it in for a 2020 since I pretty deep in mods right now but seeing how that its the month of May right now I would wait until 2020 for the new one.

People on here keep saying that but realistically, the truck will still need to be competitive in the market. Sure trucks get more expensive year over year, but is the change really that significant? Look at it this way, did the price change that drastically year over year from 17 to 18 with all the TSS stuff? Surely that added more cost to Toyota but it would be interesting to see the numbers. I dont doubt for a second that the cost did increase, but I'm thinking that cost is minimal compared to the new tech. Even if it goes up by $1,000 which is extreme imo, it still would be worth it to pay for the upgraded model, just think of how much that stuff would cost after market.
