Well the 2015 Tacoma I was looking at sold. Another dealer is offering me a deal on pretty much the same truck. Access cab,SR package only this one has the V6 and towing package. It comes out to be about $1200 more. The 2.7 4 cylinder would fulfill my needs just fine.I'm guessing the mpg difference between the two wouldn't be that much. Would you go for the 2105 V6 or wait for a 2016 4 cyl? The 2015's seem to be going fast.

Get the V6. There won't be any aftermarket parts available for the 16 for a long time - to say nothing of the unknown glitches in the new model. Very little MPG difference and the extra power will be nice.

I've had the 4 cyl and the 6. 4 got about 1mpg better. It was a 5 speed which is the only thing that gave it any kind of get up and go. Get the v6.

I actually thought about it, but I figured there would be no way for anyone to notice but me.

I would never buy a 2016 over a 2015, nor recommend you do either.

You'll be okay with the V6, especially if you plan to do any kind of modding.

I'm probably going to just go for it. It's the color I want, they are taking about $3000 off the msrp and the dealer is an hour away.I was planning on going to Mass, which is 3.5 hours from here.

Do it! Why would you want the 4 cyl anyways? If you wait for a 4 cyl 2016 it will probably cost more than this v6 2015.

My real reason for wanting the 4 cyl is the lower cost. I'll be the first to admit that I'm cheap.

Well.. A 2016 4 cyl will probably cost as much as the 2015 V6 if not a little more.

Second.. do you plan on ever adding larger tires (even a minor increase in size?) or anything extra like a shell?

I pretty much plan on leaving the truck stock. I'm probably figuring on $50 or so a month more on the payment. I'm trading in my 2011 Ranger that I bought new. I planned on keeping the Ranger for a long time until I looked at a Nissan Frontier. I then drove a Tacoma so I could compare something to the Nissan. I was hooked.
