IF I ever went back to a full size truck, first on my list would be an F350. Second on my list would likely be either a Tundra or an F150. I will always steer away from Dodge and Chevy due to all the problems I had in the past with both.

But I just don't need a full size truck anymore.

Did it have a locking rear diff? Also, amazing that a 4.3L V6 from 33 years ago only has 1 more horsepower than the 2.7L makes even for the 2022 model year!

Good point! TBI was barely a step above being carbureted!

There is only one full sized truck I would buy or own - another Dodge Cummins. Everyone's needs and situation are different, so one size does not fit all, but my 2001 Dodge Cummins was my dream truck. I modified the hell out of it for significant performance gains, and loved it. I had to sell it several years ago when I was in the middle of extreme financial hard times. When I was finally able to buy another truck, the Dodge Cummins had gone up over $65K in price, and at the time I was living in an apartment, so I could not justify that extreme cost, and went with my Tacoma I have today. For small/midsized trucks, I would only go with Toyota.

TBI was a significant leap from the temperamental computer controlled carburetor vehicles prior.

Computer and carburetor are two words that should never be used in the same sentence.

I would agree! I primarily blame California for it's overly harsh emissions standards that are still making classic car owners miserable!

Through the 70's & 80's the manufacturers were really in an unsolvable position. They really only had relays, solenoids and ported vacuum switches to work with, the fast changing emission regulations demanded a precision that they just didn't have the technology to achieve.

When did cars first start getting reliable fuel injection, anyway? I know they had fuel injected GM cars in the 1950s and 1960s, but these proved troublesome; The first vehicle with fuel injection that my dad ever bought, and his first brand new car ever, was a 1983 Toyota Celica GT. My dad loved that Celica, said it was one of best cars he ever owned, and regretted selling it in 1990. By comparison, my mom had a 1985 Ford Escort at the same time and I do believe that was carbureted...

Domestic vehicles switched to fuel injection all through from the mid 1980's.
The last domestic vehicle produced with a carburetor was the 1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Although Jeep had been under Chrysler ownership since 1987 the Wagoneer was still powered by the same AMC 360 V8 design/built engine it had used since 1970.
This is not the Chrysler LA series 360 engine.

This I knew! Funny story; I was going to post about the 1991 Grand Wagoneer, but I accidentally deleted the post and retyped it without that info, LOL...

They make EFI conversion kits for the Wagoneer now!

I had a bunch of Wagoneers -- they were some of the easiest vehicles to live with I ever had.

I love the timeless style of them; There's a guy in Texas called The Wagonmaster who sells ridiculous low mileage examples for ridiculously high prices. I would not mind a Wagoneer with a 5.7L HEMI swap, to be honest

Probably a V8 powered F150…. Toyota Tundra should have kept their V8 as an option like Ford…. Turbocharged engines do not last as long and they cost more to repair, and they don’t save fuel if you drive in the real world.

Nothing wrong with the old 360 engine, it was quiet, reliable and easy to service.
Remember the Wagoneer was designed in 1962 with solid axles and leaf springs on all four corners -- more power is generally nice but sometimes balance is better than brute.

Yes, but how to get it producing something actually resembling horsepower...?
